I find it interesting that there are message board toolbags everywhere. I frequent my college sports message board; that place is FULL of morons.

I used to frequent the Coachella message board. Bunch of music snobs calling everyone with an opinion different from their own names.

I'd have thought that the number of tools at a message board for an event that promotes freedom, expression and other high standards like Leave No Trace would be lower. I guess for the most part that number is lower here, although I'm new and can't fully attest to that yet.

I have checked in on this thread from time to time. I have not posted a lot, but I certainly read quite a bit on the forums here. I went to BM in 2008 and I am planning to go again this year. Before I went, I had a pre-conceived notion that it was not a place for kids in any way, shape or form. While I was there, I felt a little uncomfortable at first. Not from anything that I was doing or witnessing by others, but just the general feeling or "idea" of it all. By the end of the week, I realized that it was all on me. Impressing your own experiences and ideology upon others in no way allows someone to judge others and their actions. I went there with a particular idea of what I was looking for and left with something else. BM is without question a place for understanding and acceptance. To each his own. It means something different to every single person that attends. If people want to bring their kids, and they understand that there are definitely areas and experiences that may not be "kid friendly", then that onus falls squarely on the shoulders of the parents that brought them. Parents (I would think) are not bringing their children in order to have some moral barometer influence the actions of others. It is all about sharing an experience and it is up to them to guide their children, not the community who is participating.

I may have rambled a bit there...but I hope my point is well taken.

Wow this thread put me on an emotional roller coaster. I read the whole thing in one go. I am a mother. I have a 5 year old daughter. I will not yet bring her to the playa because I am not that responsible and she isn't that good at listening to me. She is a 14 year old in a small childs body.
I do not have issues with anyone bringing their child out there as long as they are taking care of them.
I do not believe that children really affect the way that the LEOs will write up citations for nudidty and the like.
