Thanks.Deb Prothero wrote:Looks like that's a job for next spring - pipe insulation.
In the meantime, I have taken the shade off a lamp and put it beside where the water pipe enters the house. The heat from a 60W bulb can keep the pipe from freezing.
This is cheaper to run than to keep the water running - at least it is here where they charge us for water in and water out by volume. Advantage is that you can get to sleep without having to listen to the water run.
Good luck with that, gyre.
Warm virtual hugs to you.
I don't know how cold it is there, but 60 watts wouldn't have an impact here.
I've used acetylene torches and failed to thaw frozen pipes before.
We have a 1500 watt heater right on one pipe,
Finally got it moving again.
It's much cheaper to run water than replace pipes in cold weather.
Barely got below freezing last couple of years.
Twenty now and may be on the way up.
Snowed yesterday when it warmed up enough.
I've been keeping things refrigerated by setting them on the stove (while off).
Fresh orange juice this morning and fresh pita and turnovers from the jerusalem market yesterday, so staying alive.
Can't get my router to recognize the new computer though.
Hard drive died.
Afternoon folks, just sitting back and watching football on the tele. I joined the Prozac Nation this morning, we'll see how that goes. Still marching two steps forward then one step back, but I'm making headway.
I hope everyone is enjoying the Carnival season, feasting, partying, and generally enjoying yourselves. I'm limiting myself to one shot of tequila a day. I'm about half done with my Christmas bottle.
Went to town yesterday and got my month's worth of food. I was able to bring my car battery back to life with a trickle charger plugged into the house. I also have a transport option, now that I have a buss pass.
Got my first seed catalog this season. It's nice to read on these cold, foggy days. My container garden last year was not the best, I'll try a regular plot this year. I think I'll go with store bought seedlings instead of planting seeds this year too.

Hi Sputnik.
all's well here, expecting some rain tonight.........just done painting a trailer I built for a friend..........
People laugh at my "collections" all over my property, but, I built this whole box trailer, and, only had to buy welding wire, gas, and electrical tape. I had everything else "on hand".............
a toast, to "scrounging and re-using".....

Good evening all! I'm about half in the bag and this seemed like the appropriate thread to post in. Feel free to bounce me if I start spouting nonsense, I've been known to do that in bars after a sixer too many...
Cheers!

Cheers!
