Lake Havasu City/Las Vegas/Surrounding Areas

Post by Victorian » Mon Jan 11, 2010 1:44 pm

First timer here, been working on this trip for 2 years since I first found out.

I've attended similar events with burners in the arizona area for camping up to 3 days, and I think I'm ready finally for the full trek this year for 2010.

Three people wishing to attend with myself have bailed. So its myself and the best friend from Tucson.

I'm doing all the planning in my desert home (garage and backyard) here in Lake Havasu City Az.

I'm having trouble finding burners within a 3 hour's driving radius around town (that does include las vegas) that might want to go along for the ride with a newbie!!!

Or maybe anyone willing to let me hang around their camp, next to their camp, etc just to share the journey and experience.

I've got all the resources and tools necessary to make my town trip, but I'd feel more comfortable having some vets around just in case things get hairy.. and they CAN get hairy I've heard....

Although, I'll be bringing my Venus razor if anyone would like, I'll have extra blades!!!!

**edit** Sorry, got excited there. Basically, just posting this to network with some surrounding burners if possible, share email/profiles/myspace/facebook WHATEVER so we can chat, and I can bow down and ask a few questions as I go along until the trip in August..

Eeeeeeew! TMI and are you sure there's no blood on the handle?

And what is your plan to catch all the little hairs so they don't end up on the playa?

Wow, there are quite a few people who may need to have their backs shaved. That's awfully nice of you to gift that service.

I've got all summer here in the 130 degree weather to master my evaporation pond, equipped with the best filtration system I can muster...

Crypto-not sure if you don't shave at all, I don't plan on it daily. But I will atleast once or twice that week... Have you ever used baby oil? It comes lavender scented, all you need is a small bit of water in a cup, even a coffee cup's amount worth of water to rinse the blade... No need to rinse your legs, smooth as a baby's bottom-covered in oil that is, you just use a towel/paper towel to wipe off a bit of the excess?

And like I said, I'll bring extra disposable cartridges to come along with...

A few free back shaves will all make our sight-seeing on the playa a bit more pleasurable, unless you like 'em hairy.

Wax before you go. Not worth the effort of shaving and at least with a wax no worries.

You didn't mention the baby oil in the first post. Now that's a horse of a different color. It's good to work that in for 15 minutes before you shave someone. Where does the line form? :D

I made JADP Last year, and I've still been in touch with a few from the area in Phoenix... But Snowflake AZ is a bit too far for me still.
The last JADP was only 4 hours in phx area, this one is clear across the AZ state for me...

With my job, I had to burn some rear ends just to get the time off for BM, and that's about all I get this year. I can do some local weekend trips, 4 hours away max maybe.. But I'm hoping to meet some closer to home. There isn't much room for the burner-minded here in my small town...

But I shall be joining the yahoo group when I get a chance.

Nice to meet you moose. You can get in line too I guess.

Waxing is a great idea. Don't know how much tollerance I have for pain but it's worth a shot--ragabashpup-thank you! But I'll bring the razor in case anyways..If you'd like a shave, you can get behind Shambala... Heehee!

Glad I've met some awesome people on the e-playa already. You guys make me all warm and fuzzy inside and give me hope for the summer to come!!!

Epic is right. The road distance is epic hard on my special edition beetle (he doesn't want to admit he's secretly a transformer)
And my wallets going thin as I continue to plan the BM Trip!

Although, it's the journey they say, NOT the destination.

I found some locals though, I'm much more excited.

You've all been quite nice.

Fishy; if I can call you fishy; I shall heed your advice and wax at least the bottom portion.

Coming from me, that's really bad advice.

Hi Victorian

Winebuff here. I am a newbie also. I decided to camp in Hushville this year for my first time. I am sure you are welcome also to join us if you like. Research it and see what you think. Really nice people who have also taken me under their wing. I am organized and ready to go. I think you sound like the same. Just look and see what camp appeals to you. Some have a tight group but I really liked the Hushville camp because it is a low-maintenance camp without boom boxes etc.

Yeah...camp in Hushville...there's no noise there.

It's been a little more decided (I think, I hope)

And I'll be headed to BRC solo, and attending with a Theme Camp that has been gracious enough to "adopt me". :D

Citizens of BRC, Victorian will be Enroute!

If'n you want to caravan, I'll be leaving from Beatty, NV (right outside of Death Valley) -- also going solo. Camping in with the lamplighters.
