New From D.C.
Hey whats up everyone. I plan on attending Burning man this year with a few friends, its a first time for all of us but i seek some advice. Im not going to be able to drive to nevada becuase i wont be able to get that much time off (thats five days of travel alone, im in D.C.) and the problem with a plane is the fact that we cant really bring too many supplies with us other than a tent and our clothing, and the closest we can get is i think Reno by plane, and thats something like 120 miles away? and we cant rent a car becuase you have to be 21, were all close but not quite there. Is there any other way we can get there? and even so we still have to find a way to get all of our stuff after we get off the plane. any help/isight would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure all in your party is familiar to the point of memorization of the survival and first timers guide. Be ready to be RSR, LNT and all that stuff.
I have never done this but it could work especially if you fly in to Reno Monday morning or even Sunday before the event opens. Probably 3/4 of the event participants make the trip through Reno.
Fly in and take a taxi to walmart. Buy all your supplies that you need and your water, food, cooler, ice etc. Make a list with quantities before hand to make shopping faster and so you don't go overboard on impulse buy stuff.
Make sure to buy a pack of multi colored sharpies.
Use the cardboard packaging off of the things you bought and the sharpies to make a burning man sign to use as an aid to bum a ride. Try to hit up RV's so you all can stay together. Be prepared to offer some $ for gas and offer it right away when offered a ride. It will be a nice gesture at minimum and could be the tipping point for someone offering a ride. Have a back up plan to meet in the center of the center camp shade or at playa info at a certain time should you have to split up for the ride in.
At some point in the future on this board there will be a thread about the Bio Bus and probably other options for shuttling from Reno to the burn and back. That is an option but it may cost more and have deadlines time wise both in Reno and on the playa that you may not want to deal with.
Good luck and have a good burn.
