Burner Brotha
Burner Brotha
Hello, this will be my first time attending a burning man event. I have friends who have gone and have heard many things. I have heard there is lots of good music and art and have been doing research as the time comes to make words turn into action. just bought my ticket so i'm a little stoked about that. i will be on here more often so as to get prepared cause i know this isn't just some "rave". any advice anyone may have for me would be well appreciated. I'm coming from Brooklyn Ny so if anyone in that area would like to meet up or talk before hand, that would be cool as well. I really don't know what to expect. I used to live out in Az but i've been in NY and haven't been out in the desert in a while and i understand that this is like intense desert, which i'm down with. So wrapping up. Hope to see some people i meet on here in BRC.

I'd figure in that you will have a huge build up to that day you arrive. That's what happened to me. Stress is what I'm talking about my dear. But just wait. 2 minutes after you arrive it all goes away and you dance around like Julia Andrews singing "The hills are alive with the sound of muzac...."

funny bunch
you guys are a funny bunch. that's cool. but for real i have a queston. maybe post it later in the question and answer part in the preparation posts. but anyways. is it not smart to fly out from the east. cause i don't see how i would get all my supplies out there. if i did. so i';m assuming that i would have to be taking a road trip or are there ways to accomplish such tasks???????/

YOu can buy when you land. If you get chummy with someone in the Reno/Sparks area, you can send stuff ahead and pick it up when you get there. Or you can do a road trip, which will depend on time you have, ect.

Road trip is recommended as it makes the whole thing into MUCH more of an experience, but you can definitely find people headed out who would be willing to gift a lift (I think the BioBus still takes folks). As for supplies...well, as soon as Burning Man season comes around, both cities seem intent on making sure that Burners have EVERYTHING that they might POSSIBLY need available for purchase.
The Home Depot off of Pyramid Highway even has a "Burning Man" section with dust masks, battery-charged glow sticks, rebar, Gatorade, etc. God I love Home Depot.
