Looking 4 Interesting People

Post by 999Casting » Wed Jan 20, 2010 2:24 pm

We’re casting an indie feature. Now before you draw any kind of conclusion, let me just put a few things out there. We’re not Hollywood toadies or corporate doorknobs. We refuse to be a part of that pathetic media culture that seems intent on beating our collective conscious into a dimwitted pulp.

This project is all about expression and rebellion. Rebellion against the idea that we must all conform to some social model that cannot question the way we are told to live and the truths we are told to believe.

We are not looking for actors. We’re looking for those outliers out there on the fringes trying to get people to open up and become more active in the shaping of their own lives. This project involves sharing an incredibly open experience with a small group of people who will come together to make a film that is not afraid and that will create quite a stir. So please check out our casting page and the submission instructions.

We are open to submissions from all over the world.
English language proficiency is our only requirement.
This will be a paid project.

Please help us find the right people, maybe that's you or someone you know.

regards,

Wandering Eye Productions

This is from the casting sheet;
"Seeking MAN; 30-40 years

We are seeking a man between the ages of 30 – 40 who speaks English well and wants a chance to express radical ideas and explore the opportunity to live a life with no apparent boundaries. Open to all Nationalities.

Disliking authority is a plus!

I'm not sure that the U.S.A. has much "edginess" to claim to that isn't some evangelical marine killing Arabs with scripture on his rifle... not that I'm Canadian. I'm from Spain, where half my family were anarchists fighting and dying in the Spanish civil war and the other half were fascists. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that such extremes would eventually merge... pretty sick. As far as I'm concerned, I don't really care about what you do or don't give credence to. You like pulling that trigger, and why should that surprise anyone given the fact that almost everything we encounter that claims rebelliousness is bullshit. And that's true. That's why we're reaching out. Not so someone can tell us how good our casting notice is and give us their rebellious sign of approval, but because we're looking for someone who wants to express those ideas people rarely have a chance to encounter when they sit down to watch a movie. So Simon de la Playa, since I have a personal taste for irreverence, I hope you consider bringing all that disdain in the form of ideas to a casting video, even if it's just to tell me to fuck off. Take care...

Joseph

i've already sent in 6 of my home videos.

of course, it's all done in Fisher-Price Pixel Vision, but it adds to the grainy, indyishness and garagey flavor that's so necessary if you're trying to be the darling of the new and recently rebellious Sundance Festival.

My Late Response...

Post by 999Casting » Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:11 pm

MY LATE RESPONSE...

Sorry I didn't respond to you guys earlier, but we've been working on a short documentary about how big oil and the banks are fucking us a little bit more and a little bit deeper with the Canadian tar sands extraction.

So here goes...
can't sit still wrote:Out of curiosity; do you have a script,, screenplay?
The dialogues aren't scripted because whoever ends up in the movie will be speaking for himself and interacting with what will often be actual situations. We have a scripted structure, or storyline, or series of events that will occur, that's all.
pinemom wrote:Out of even more curiosity, why did you select Burningman.com to find actors?
We selected Burning Man because we're not looking for actors. We're looking for people who are comfortable being filmed and who want to participate in this project. I've been to Burning Man events in Toronto and I've always respected the diversity and independence of the people I've met and seen at the events.

Simon of the Playa wrote:a very good question piney....

From open and ignorant disdain to suspect, I guess that's progress. If you want to see what I've done in the past, all you have to do is visit the website where we've posted the casting information...

Yes, I willingly used the word "indie" to describe this project. I guess that's because the word means an independently funded feature film, which is what we are. It is true, however, that marketing and Sundance with their Big Fat Fucking Greek Wedding indies have given the word some shitty connotations. So maybe it's time to think of a new word that means a real indie, not that other fake shit that may be independently funded, but whose ideas seem to have been directly extracted from the thighs of some fat 5th avenue bitch. I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I would appreciate any help you guys can offer in connecting the right people to this kind of project. It's ironic how much cynicism you encounter when you decide to step out of the system and make a movie with real people from the periphery voicing a well articulated dissent that never seems to make through the mainstream media. And I'm glad you guys want to know who exactly is claiming to be in the process of making a project about expression and rebellion. That could mean a tea-party republican for all you know. So check me out. These are my past two projects...

Flamethrowing penises are pretty good. You can never get enough of those in a movie. Thank you OneEyeDick (OED). So if he can also be articulate, aware that everything is political, that politics is not democracy, more like plutocracy, and willing to let go and shed any future expectations by just becoming that irreverent dissent and pursuit of your own desires with a camera and in the company of a small group of like-minded people looking to do the same... that and a flamethrowing penis would be my ideal candidate.
pinemom wrote:Not trying to brag or nuttin, but Reno Nv could be a one stop shoppin...har har har
So that's the thing, that's where you can help. If you know someone in Reno Nv or anywhere else who you think might be into doing something like this, it would be great if you could tell them about the idea and the casting.

Funny as it may seem to other people, I figure I have a better chance at finding authenticity in the Burning Man Community than a casting agency or a lot of other places. I hope this isn't some kind of Catch-22 where because you're looking for someone who in this current climate of gradual fascism doesn't want to be controlled or found, you can't find him. Anyway, I always thought there was something to Heller.
