wow........
I can't imagine you're that naive, and, you say your not racist (or sexist).
What does who you sleep with have to do with your economic, social, or, political views?
And,
how can the above be affected by the color of your skin?
or, are you stereotyping blacks and gays?............
you, DVD, are a smart, astute fellow...........hhhhmmmmm........this is puzzling...........
From whence doth thine pedestal emanate, that, thee may stand upon it, laugh at, and ridicule others, a mirror, (ethereal though it may be), for self reflection, not withstanding?...........
just a poetic question, sorry, I do wax as such, at times......

ygmir, let me see if I understand this correctly.
Between this:
And this:
Seems to me none of the above like any people of color and it also seems the majority of republicans are faithful Christians which claim that homosexuality is "against God", why would anyone want to join an organization that does not like them?
I'm not being racist or sexist about it. Just pointing out the obvious. After all, it's not like these folks have not let it be known what their feelings are.
Between this:
This: right wing and left wing are monicers, as are liberal and conservative.
they tend to identify with republican and democrat, but, not exclusively.
a right wing person is no more the asshat than left, and, vice versa.........
asses is asses, the rest don't matter.
you can cherry pick any "nut" and, identify them with a group.
Louis Farrakhan,
Pat Robertson,
Joseph Stalin,
their close followers, sure, are mostly shitheels, but, because they call themselves "right or left", does not mean others who identify there are the same.
Jeeze................

Just want to make sure now. Are you saying the majority of republicans like people of color and Homosexuals?
Because I am under the impression that they dont.
The majority that is.
Hey, I could be wrong.
After all we could say that the majority of Dems like and have no problems with Gays and people of color.

The thing is, in your statements above, to me, that, you say most republicans are christians? Do you know that, or, are you going by what's on t.v.? I don't know, but, even among the christians, that are republican, I'd bet many, if not, most, have no problem with gays, and, accept them into their party. Same with people of color, or, different backgrounds.
I could see you, perhaps, being more accurate with "most christians are republican", but, even that, I'd wonder about.
Just because a fringe group is high profile, does not mean they are the majority.
Again, I don't know, though. I'm not involved on any level that would allow me that insight.
And,
regarding people of color:
I'd bet, out there somewhere, there are demographics relating different racial makups to party. I don't know what it is, but, I have friends in both parties, and, don't notice any discrimination based on party, related to skin color.
I've read that many latino, cuban, etc are republican.
Sure, there are racist, sexist, homophobes, etc out there, but, I'd bet, you can find them in all parties...........
Certainly, IIRC, Muslims also reject homosexuality.......but, you are quite pro-palestinian, and, I'd bet, there are lots of muslims there..........
I'm more inclined to, as before, state the asshats are everywhere.
I also, think generalizing and such, regarding something as big as a political party, is tough.
I will note, that, I have made many generalizations in my life, painted with a broad brush, mistakenly accused folks of thoughts and actions, based on a generalization related to them or their associations.
And, I will say, I may well do it, again.........
we all make mistakes and such.
I suppose, I'm just having this conversation (and, appreciating the civility and intellectual stimulation) with you, for the sake of "fleshing out" attitudes and opinions.
and, yes, my opinion is that, most republicans accept if not like, people of color and gays.........
and, if not most, I'd bet it's pretty close.
and,
does not agreeing with someone, mean, you don't like them or reject them?
Granted, I'm no brain surgeon, not educated, and, don't keep up on the cutting edge of world news and politics, but, these are my thoughts.
I am very open to being proven wrong, and, the ensuing discussion.
I can disagree with you, even vehemently, but, if you ever show up on the playa, I'd also give you a beer and shake your hand.
I think there are more folks like this out there, than, some people realize.

The loss of a seat in Mass. sends a huge signal to me. The current admin knows that their popularity is WAY low. The current admin made NO effort to insure that the Dem candidate was prepared or palatable. So, we have an admin that is just marching along with their agenda. Their ratings are in the shitter but, they didn't entertain the possibility of a loss.
If their agenda is so all-important, why don't they make an effort to safeguard it? They're planning on shoving their agenda down our throats no matter what. Do they have any CONCEPT of the idea of negativity?????? Have they never heard of unintended consequences,,, blowback,,, fallout,,, collateral damage ???????????
How could they possibly pursue an agenda that alienates SO MANY people when they have to face a mid-term election?? It appears that this admin has NO concept of the possibility of negative results from their actions. They obviously washed away the Dem advantage in Mass. Do they even have a plan to counter their negative image in more contested elections?
You've probably read our current fiscal situation in the "winter" thread or some other place. Does it inspire you with any confidence to contemplate the possibility that our admin has no perception of negative consequences,,, or plan to deal with them?
If they had no plan in Mass,,,, have no plan for the mid-terms,,,,,, WTF is the plan for the economy?
At the moment it's on Keynesian autopilot. No guidance,,, just borrow and spend. WE need $ 1700 billion by the end of march.
Do I sound like a broken record?

I believe, they see themselves as "Messianic", and, above reproach.
that, things that have failed in the past, will not fail now, because, "they" are smarter and will do it right...........
They, IMHO, are elitists, thinking, that, what they say is right, is right.
What they deem necessary, is.
What they see as what we deserve, is what we get.
I evidence this by how they exempt themselves from so much of what they foist upon us.
But, that's just the cynical side of me talking.......

So let me post what I have so far and leave it at that for now. Maybe if I have time later I shall answer the rest of your post but seems at this point not really worth that.
These are the statistics oand demographics of both the Republican party and Democrats, from the wiki which can get rather detailed so let me help you with at least 2 links.
This the average over all statistics :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states
This is by ethnic groups: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_dem ... ted_States

I may have read that, but, I suppose, didn't find the notes on your personal habits for reference before posting...........
The links are fine for Wiki, but, I don't see them addressing a lot of this.
I think, for the most part, I've made the points I want to make.
we can agree to dis-agree, I don't feel I'm going to change your mind.
I'm not even trying to. I am, though, enjoying the discussion, and, mental exercise.

On one side we have.
Another posability is you are both wrong. only a minority of each party is really homo/ethno static free. and while the lines are drawn each side in it's own little self serving way is going to play both the pro-Gay and power to the people card. while simultaneously launching a full frontal attack on the others' moral judgment.
And on the other.ygmir wrote:

Technically you could both be right, only if there was evidence to support it. The debate over Equal Marriage Rights demonstrates that if both the Demicans and Repubicats are both Gay and racial tolerant, where does all the strife come from?DVD Burner wrote:...

Biden says US will appeal case of Blackwater/XE mercs
Sun, 24 Jan 2010 02:09:10 GMT
http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=11 ... id=3510203
US Vice President Joe Biden has announced an appeal into a US court decision to drop charges against Blackwater/XE mercenaries accused of killing 14 Iraqi civilians in 2007.
"A dismissal is not an acquittal," Biden told reporters during a visit to Baghdad on Saturday, referring to the case involving five guards employed by the private company Xe, which was formerly known as Blackwater, AFP reported.
"Today I am announcing that the United States government will appeal this decision. Our Justice Department will file that appeal next week," he said.
The five guards, who had been part of a convoy of armored vehicles, had been charged with killing the civilians and wounding 18 others in an attack using guns and grenades at Baghdad's busy Nisur Square in September 2007.
Charges against the Blackwater/Xe employees were dismissed on December 31, 2009, when a judge ruled US prosecutors violated their rights by using incriminating statements they had made under immunity during a State Department probe.
The ruling outraged the Iraqi government, which maintains that 17 people were killed in the incident.
Blackwater announced on February 13, 2009 that it would henceforth operate under the new name Xe Services LLC, but it is often still referred to as Blackwater or sometimes as Blackwater/Xe.

well.......because I do so love "irreverence".........I'll go with funny.......
I just, yearn for a day, when, it can be applied to "everyone".........
It's always ok to poke fun at whites, and, especially men.........in that way..........
but, so many scream when the same is applied to others..........
Try saying something similar about the n.a.a.c.p.,,,,,,,,,,,,j.d.l.,,,,,,,,,,n.o.w.,,,,,,,,,,la raza,,,,,,,,g.l.a.d.,,,,,,,,,,
let alone make fun of them.

yeah, white guys gotta be "men" about it........why not everyone else?........
it's just that "tit for tat" that exacerbates, IMHO, the problem......

yeah, but, leveling it using "racial" laws, IMHO, is not the best way..........
changing peoples attitudes, is, IMHO, the only way it'll work, and last.
"racial" laws, to me, just engender more resentment........but, IMHO, that's what the PTB want.........keep us all fighting eachother, so, we won't notice how they're screwing us all...........
(sorry for all the "IMHO's")

There is an expose of the health care denial industry on dateline right now.
If you think your insurance guarantees anything, just wait until it matters.
The real heart of the republican party was exposed again with the very weak reform bills.
'Support abortion or we'll keep killing you.'
'Give us what we want or we'll keep killing you.'
The only fix is to shut down the health care denial industry totally.
They have proven they won't be regulated.

I read about this. Meant to post about it.knowmad wrote: Now the Law Book Cooking Begins....
the following is From
THE SUPREME COUP, By Jim Hightower - Mon., 1/25/10
The "Alito-Kennedy-Roberts-Scalia-Thomas cabal has decreed that corporations have a free-speech "right" to dip into their corporate coffers and spend unlimited sums of money to elect or defeat candidates of their choosing".... (FauxSnooze et. al)
A far cry from the ..."early years of our democratic republic when Thomas Jefferson warned about the dangerous rise of corporate power, declaring that Americans must "crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations." Today I'm sure that founding patriots like Jefferson are not simply spinning in their graves at the Supreme Court's surrender to this aristocracy – they're trying to claw their way out of their graves to throttle all five of the traitors."
Yep, it's gonna start getting real crazy now.
Money rules, Just the way it is.
