Enchalon? Whatever.
As soon as any corporate "person" (even from overseas) can step in and buy an election, basically flooding airwaves with whatever propaganda they can spew, then we'll all be wearing jackboots. Jackboots. I prefer sneakers.

Veritas

A staff member in the office told the FBI that two of the suspects, including the son of an acting U.S. Attorney, wore white hard harts, tool belts and flourescent vests and said they needed to fix a problem with the phone system.

According to an FBI affidavit, O'Keefe was already sitting in the waiting area and recorded the men on his cell phone when they walked in.

A federal law enforcement official said one of the suspects was picked up in a car a couple of blocks away with a listening device that could pick up transmissions. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the information was not part of the FBI affidavit.

O'Keefe said only "veritas," Latin for truth, as he left jail Tuesday with suspects Stan Dai and Joseph Basel, both 24. All declined to comment.

As he got into a cab outside the jail, O'Keefe said, "The truth shall set me free."

The fourth suspect, Robert Flanagan, 24, was released earlier Tuesday. His father, Bill, is the acting U.S. Attorney based in Shreveport. He was first assistant under Republican President George W. Bush appointee Donald Washington before Washington stepped down this month. President Barack Obama recently nominated Stephanie A. Finley for the post. His father's office declined to comment.

Senator's Phones Allegedly Targeted

JANUARY 27, 2010

By COREY DADE

Federal officials accused four men, including a conservative activist, of posing as telephone repairmen to tamper with phones at the New Orleans offices of Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu.

The four men, who also included the son of an acting U.S. attorney, were arrested Monday in the Hale Boggs Federal Building in downtown New Orleans and charged with entering a federal building under false pretenses with the intent of committing a felony, according to the U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

One of the suspects, James O'Keefe, a 25-year-old filmmaker and conservative activist last year said his undercover videos at field offices of advocacy group Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or Acorn documented corruption.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Mr. O'Keefe, who had traveled to New Orleans and delivered a speech Thursday, admitted to helping plan and coordinate the scheme.

The other men arrested were identified as Joseph Basel, 24, Stan Dai, 24, and Robert Flanagan, 24, of New Orleans. Mr. Flanagan is the son of William J. Flanagan, the interim U.S. attorney for the Western District of Louisiana. The suspects are scheduled to appear in federal court in New Orleans on Feb. 12.

Each of the men was released Tuesday on $10,000 bond. Mr. Flanagan's attorney, J. Garrison Jordan, said his client exercised "poor judgment." "I don't think he intended to commit a crime. I think he just got caught up in this stunt," Mr. Jordan said.

Attorney Edward Castaing, who represented Messrs. O'Keefe, Basel and Dai at the bond hearing, declined to comment on the charges. "We will investigate the allegations," he said.

Late Monday morning, according to an FBI affidavit, Messrs. Flanagan and Basel, dressed in blue work shirts, fluorescent green vests and construction hard hats, entered Sen. Landrieu's offices and told a staffer they had come to fix the phone lines. By then, Mr. O'Keefe already had arrived at the offices, according to the FBI.

After Mr. Basel examined a phone in the office, he asked for access to the phone closet to work further, the FBI said. The men were sent to a federal General Services Administration office elsewhere in the building, where they were asked to produce identification. They said they left it in their vehicle, according to the affidavit.

They were arrested shortly thereafter by federal marshals. The U.S. attorney's office didn't say why the men allegedly sought to tamper with the phone lines. Authorities didn't specify Mr. Dai's alleged role but said he also helped conceive and execute the plan.

"I am as interested as everyone else about their motives and purpose, which I hope will become clear as the investigation moves forward," Ms. Landrieu said in a statement.

In Mr. O'Keefe's videos at Acorn offices, he and a partner, Hannah Giles, posed as a pimp and a prostitute, respectively, and secretly recorded receiving financial advice from Acorn workers about starting a brothel. Acorn spokesman Kevin Whalen said Mr. O'Keefe's arrest provided "further evidence of his disregard for the law in pursuit of his extremist agenda."

I cant think of a time where a democrat or an independent tried schemes like this.

Last I heard of schemes like this was with Watergate.

Can anyone remember a democrat or independent doing something like this?

if you look at Illinois, the state is bankrupt. It, like California is/was buried by practically unlimited demands from the sector of population looking for handouts. No, I don't mean politicians. There are millions of people with legitimate and non-legitimate demands on the safety net. GOV tends to channel the money to the people who already have lots of money.
2 guys, Cloward and Piven came up with the strategy of crashing GOV by increasing these demands to where they were beyond what GOV could afford. This, they reasoned would bring about huge changes to where GOV would have to bow to the demands of the voters for a more generous welfare program.

Their strategy, and apparently, Obama's, is to overload the system to the breaking point. When the pieces are picked up, they will be rearranged to give more handouts to more people.
The major failing point of any socialist system is that it removes incentive from those who are doing all the work to support those who don't work. Apparently, the socialist wonks feel that enough work is being done by machines that they don't have to worry about incentive for people. Obama's science advisor wants the U.S. to de-industrialize to give everyone a better standard of living.
I suppose that they envision an "Amish" sort of society where we don't need many machines. Therefore, we would get by on just our domestic oil. We wouldn't need to import stuff.

Apparently, Cloward and Piven believe that; after the great crash of GOV, the socialist wonks will do a great leveling of society. As in,,, financial leveling.

Oregon has just raised taxes way up on the "rich" to keep the public service unions happy. Oregon, like California has had a big exodus of business.
http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot. ... wners.html
If the socialist wonks get their way here and raise the crap out of taxes, that should very effectively chase enough business and capital to Asia to insure that the U.S. is indeed,,,, de-industrialized.

I can't really fathom how Obama could have been financed [elected] by the PTB if he is inclined to crash the system. If the PTB want the system crashed, they probably intend to eliminate a lot of "dead wood" during the transition. Maybe , Obama has plans to outsmart them.

Cloward-Piven Government

By James Simpson

It is time to cast aside all remaining doubt. President Obama is not trying to lead America forward to recovery, prosperity and strength. Quite the opposite, in fact.

In September of last year, American Thinker published my article, Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis. Part of a series, it connected then-presidential candidate Barack Obama to individuals and organizations practicing a malevolent strategy for destroying our economy and our system of government. Since then, the story of that strategy has found its way across the blogosphere, onto the airwaves of radio stations across the country, the Glenn Beck television show, Bill O'Reilly, and now Mark Levin.

The methodology is known as the Cloward-Piven Strategy, and we can all be grateful to David Horowitz and his 'Discover the Networks' for originally exposing and explaining it to us. He describes it as:

The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were two lifelong members of Democratic Socialists of America who taught sociology at Columbia University (Piven later went on to City University of New York). In a May 1966 Nation magazine article titled "The Weight of the Poor," they outlined their strategy, proposing to use grassroots radical organizations to push ever more strident demands for public services at all levels of government.

The result, they predicted, would be "a profound financial and political crisis" that would unleash "powerful forces ... For major economic reform at the national level."

They implemented the strategy by creating a succession of radical organizations, most notable among them the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), with the help of veteran organizer Wade Rathke. Their crowning achievement was the "Motor Voter" act, signed into law by Bill Clinton in 1993 with Cloward and Piven standing behind him.

As we now know, ACORN was one of the chief drivers of high-risk mortgage lending that eventually led to the financial crisis. But the Motor Voter law was another component of the strategy. It created vast vulnerabilities in our electoral system, which ACORN then exploited.

ACORN's vote registration scandals throughout the U. S. are predictable fallout.

The Motor Voter law has also been used to open another vulnerability in the system: the registration of vast numbers of illegal aliens, who then reliably vote Democrat. Herein lies the real reason Democrats are so anxious for open borders, security be damned.

It should be clear to anyone with a mind and two eyes that this president and this Congress do not have our interests at heart. They are implementing this strategy on an unprecedented scale by flooding America with a tidal wave of poisonous initiatives, orders, regulations, and laws. As Rahm Emmanuel said, "A crisis is a terrible thing to waste."

The real goal of "health care" legislation, the real goal of "cap-and-trade," and the real goal of the "stimulus" is to rip the guts out of our private economy and transfer wide swaths of it over to the government to control. Do not be deluded by the propaganda. These initiatives are vehicles for change. They are not goals in and of themselves except in their ability to deliver power. They will make matters much worse, for that is their design.

This time, in addition to overwhelming the government with demands for services, Obama and the Democrats are overwhelming political opposition to their plans with a flood of apocalyptic legislation. Their ultimate goal is to leave us so discouraged, demoralized, and exhausted that we throw our hands up in defeat. As Barney Frank said, "the middle class will be too distracted to fight."

These people are our enemies. They don't use guns, yet, but they are just as dangerous, determined, and duplicitous as the communists we faced in the Cold War, Korea , Vietnam , and bush wars across the globe, and the Nazis we faced in World War II.

It is time we fully internalized and digested this fact, with all its ugly ramifications. These people have violated countless laws and could be prosecuted, had we the political power. Not only are their policies unconstitutional, but deliberately so -- the goal being to make the Constitution irrelevant. Their spending is off the charts and will drive us into hyperinflation, but it could be rescinded, had we the political power. These policies are toxic, but they could be stopped and reversed, had we the political power. Their ideologies are poisonous, but they could be exposed for what they are, with long jail sentences as an object lesson, had we the political power..

Every single citizen who cares about this country should be spending every minute of his or her spare time lobbying, organizing, writing, and planning. Fight every initiative they launch. It is all destructive. If we are to root out this evil, it is critical that in 2010 we elect competent, principled leaders willing to defend our Constitution and our country. Otherwise, the malevolent cabal that occupies the government today will become too entrenched.

After that, all bets are off.

God Bless America , more today than yesterday!

It's too late. The system is beyond repair. Act locally. Make friends with your neighbors and find a nearby source of water and food.

So Basically "Fight the System From Within"? 'Cause that Worked so well for the Flower Children.
  • Lobbying
  • Voting
  • Fighting
  • Defending
Sounds Like a bunch of Jerkoffs waiting for the parade. The great Carnival of Change (Hope) Is Coming to town! 'Let's borrow some money from uncle Chan so we can get tickets! Wheeeeee! But when it Get's down to it Revolution is a spectator/commentator sport, then the led starts flying.

Lobbying needs to be abolished. If Voting ever changed anything It would be as Illegal as MDMA. Fighting only works until someone bigger and badder comes along, and they always do. Defending is all you can do when you have tried and failed everything on that list.

Now before I Embrace the Rebuttal I Would Like to extend a personal acknowledgment to CSS. I've used strong language, and the word 'you', is the collective impersonal form thereof. I've read a lot of your postings and admire your whit, clarity and depth. Your arguments are, from what I've seen well thought out. That said, I Answer the hordes that are coming to tell me this can't work. I Refute with, This what we try every day and hasn't worked yet. Have you tried Ignoring them? "Pay your taxes... Would you take a moment to fill out this Poll?" How about taking a Vow of Poverty? Tax% of 0 is still 0! Will getting caught up in the media hype make you better prepared for the Epic Fail that is coming?
Will postponing the Catastrophe that will come with revolt prevent the slow certain demise we suffer on a daily basis? Est non talentum viscum talentus of viscus?

Fili me boni beli
Knowmad, I posted that paper to illustrate a strategy that may be in process in D.C. I should have been more careful to include the whole paper in quotation marks. I would never write anything like the tail end of that paper.
Thanks for the kudos on wit, clarity and depth. As I wrote on the "global warming" thread. There are very few things that I believe are perfectly delineated and understood. Not being the fount of absolute wisdom and truth, I try to post info that appears to be likely or possible.
If we are presented with all likely scenarios, it is more likely that we can arrive at some reasonable conclusion. I believe that the forum is a means to converge on the truth. I try to present relevant data.
I don't get offended when people disagree. The ultimate objective is accuracy or truth,,, not some validation of my personal knowledge or interpretation.

The quantity and velocity of change here on Terra is leading to a juxtaposition of problems.... both social and physical. We have tremendous momentum both positive and negative. There are too many variables to be sure of the outcome.
My general feeling is that the extensive destruction of the social fabric combined with the extensive destruction of the planetary systems will result in an unstoppable momentum that will be quite negative for some portion of the population. I expect a billion plus people to die in the next 8 years.

The momentum in certain structures is unstoppable. Ocean habitat destruction comes to mind. The momentum will take a long time to turn around.

In the meantime, I won't be doing any lobbying. Man's destructive power has far outgrown his feeble efforts of self-control. I'm trying to get out of the path.

I was going to end with some witty latin; copulo ergo sum. But to steal a line "my love boat has been in dry dock" :D :D

DVD, you don't actually read Sullivan, do you? Geeez.

By the way, apparently Jack Murtha, who spends more of other taxpayers dollars than any other Congressman on the hill is in ICU this morning. Maybe they were doing liposuction on his ass and hit brain tissue or something.

But I just got this in the mail that I thought I would share:

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Ok, now that was really funny.

Not even really sure yet who Murtha is but it doesn't matter to me.

He's a politician and everyone here knows what I think of politics.

My roomate thought that line was funny also.

Did you come up with that one on your own?

Poll: Republicans Say Palin More Qualified to Be President Than Obama

February 2, 2010 5:23 PM

Posted by Brian Montopoli

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2010/02/02 ... g=facebook

A non-partisan Research 2000 survey of 2,000 Republicans has found that a majority believe Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Barack Obama and that nearly two in three believe Mr. Obama is a socialist.

The survey, commissioned by liberal blogger Markos Moulitsas, found that 39 percent of Republicans believe the president should be impeached. Only 42 percent say Mr. Obama was born in the United States – 36 percent say he was not, while 22 percent are not sure.

Sixty-three percent identified the president as a socialist, while 21 percent said he is not. One in four say the president "wants the terrorists to win," and another 33 percent are not sure.

One in five say ACORN stole the 2008 election, and an additional 55 percent are not sure. Only one in four say no. Twenty-three percent say their state should secede from the United States.

Thirty-one percent say "Barack Obama is a racist who hates White people," and another one in three aren't sure.

As for Palin, 53 percent say she is more qualified for the presidency than Mr. Obama, while 14 percent say she is not. One in three aren't sure.

The poll also found that most oppose allowing openly gay people to serve in the military, marry, or teach in public schools. They oppose sex education, support religious education in public schools, believe abortion to be murder, and believe "the only way for an individual to go to heaven is though Jesus Christ."

The opening night speaker at the Tea Party convention suggested a return to a "literacy test" to protect America from presidents like Obama -- a segregation-era method employed by southern US states to keep blacks from voting.

In his speech Thursday to attendees, former Republican congressman Tom Tancredo invoked the loaded pre-civil rights era buzzword, saying that President Barack Obama was elected because "we do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote in this country."

Southern states used literacy tests as part of an effort to deny suffrage to African American voters prior to Johnson-era civil rights laws.

"Prior to passage of the federal Voting Rights Act in 1965, Southern (and some Western) states maintained elaborate voter registration procedures whose primary purpose was to deny the vote to those who were not white," a website for civil rights veterans explains. "In the South, this process was often called the 'literacy test.' In fact, it was much more than a simple test, it was an entire complex system devoted to denying African-Americans (and in some regions, Latinos) the right to vote."

"Because the Freedom Movement was running "Citizenship Schools" to help people learn how to fill out the forms and pass the test, Alabama changed the test 4 times in less than two years (1964-1965)," the site adds. "At the time of the Selma Voting Rights campaign there were actually 100 different tests in use across the state. In theory, each applicant was supposed to be given one at random from a big loose-leaf binder. In real life, some individual tests were easier than others and the registrar made sure that Black applicants got the hardest ones."

White applicants could be approved even if they didn't pass the test.

"Your application was then reviewed by the three-member Board of Registrars — often in secret at a later date," the site continues. "They voted on whether or not you passed. It was entirely up to the judgment of the Board whether you passed or failed. If you were white and missed every single question they could still pass you if — in their sole judgment — you were 'qualified.' If you were Black and got every one correct, they could still flunk you if they considered you 'unqualified.'"

Tancredo, who is known for his sharp anti-immigrant rhetoric, also attacked what he called the United States' "cult of multiculturalism," and tore into 2008 Republican Presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

"Thank God John McCain lost the election," Tancredo told the Tea Party crowd, citing his positions on government spending and immigration.

"This is our country," he added. "Let's take it back."

Southern voting registrars could employ literacy tests arbitrarily. They included dauntingly difficult questions, aimed at keeping those they didn't want enfranchised from voting.

For example, an Alabama literacy test required would-be voters to know esoteric facts about the US political and legal system (one of the literacy tests can be read here in PDF form).

Among the questions:

"If a person charged with treason denies his guilt, how many persons must testify against him before he can be convicted?"

"If a president does not wish to sign a bill, how many days is he allowed in which to return it to Congress for consideration?"

"If the United States wishes to purchase land for an arsenal and have exclusive legislative authority over it, consent is required from [fill in the blank]."

The answers to the above questions are two, ten and the legislature, respectively.

Tancredo called Obama a "committed socialist ideologue," and referred to him by his full name, Barack Hussein Obama.

ABC News reported that the former Colorado representative's speech "received enthusiastic applause at times," but said the crowd did not fill the ballroom in which the event was held.
