Ideas for a Structure

Post by Ugly Dougly » Fri Jan 29, 2010 11:00 am

Help me out here people!

Here is my vision, inspired by the sight of the Pantheon in Rome.

A dome, made out of starplates. A single frequency dome with 8-foot sections.

Like a yurt, this dome is raised on top of a braced latticework wall about five feet high.

Hell, I might just build a yurt.

The front is a small portico with a pair of Sonotubes.

the first picture, of what i assume is yer attempt at the second picture, failed miserably.

on that note the first is a pretty sweet structure, the second is way too much work and the pagoda is awesome, please build that out there.

The first is a single-frequency dome and there are hundreds in BRC. The photo is not mine. But it could be.

The second and third are the same thing. A yurt.

I am still brainstorming.

I'm modeling my first hexa yurt to take this year to the playa, and from what I can see, the sky's the limit as to how fancy you can be. With some gables or porticos either real or facaded, it could really get elaborate. I'll send along an example when I get done. If you want something simple, you might consider a quanset hut. I've built lots of them with emt tubing and heavyweight shrink wrap. Needs a tent stakeout, but holds up real well in the wind (survived 50 plus mph at my house) and has lots of space.

Yes, Doc, I made a quonset on my 2nd year with pvc and camo netting. It was meh training. :)

Probably I will do a yurt for privacy and a single-freq for public stuff.

Camp GravyBrain does the hexayurts. They are great for dust storms! But they are a lot of work for 9 days, be sure you have the manpower to put it up. You will love your yurt....
