Moop-free Camp Promotion Idea

hi all. just wanted to share an idea my theme camp and i camp up with for event promotion on the playa. it seams like a lot of theme camps promote their activities either with a flyer (which pretty much turns into instant moop) or with stickers, either stuck on to the porto johns (which pisses off the porto john people), or on to people (which eventually becomes unstuck and turns into moop again.

our solution? custom rubber stamps! this year moons of mongo will be stamping people with our event time and location (we will, of course, ask first).

it's probably been done before, but i thought it was worth sharing again.

Define MOOPS for the new kids on the block. I get the drift that it is trash on the loose, but do the letters actually stand for something?

Also, do the theme camps promote their events or themes in the Black Rock City daily newspaper? I was hoping that was where I'd look to figure out where I wanted to go/what I wanted to do.

ack! i should have defined moop.. sorries. but papa bear has now spelled it out for us (thanks!).

correct me if i'm wrong, everybody, but i think the moop definition goes beyond stray trash. it refers to any element, no matter how miniscule, that isn't native to the playa. it is anything that hits the playa that is not playa. so it's not just cigarette butts, pistachio shells and feather boa bits, it's also cigarette ash, gray water, dandruff, playa boogers (although those mostly are playa so i guess that hardly counts). we realize that there's a lot of moop that's beyond our control to contain, but we're trying to be concious of it all and try to keep as much as humanly possible from hitting the ground.

and as far as promotion.. when you get to the playa the greeters will give you a calendar of events, which will contain any event people submitted to the website's event calendar. most everything will be in there. but a lot of camps do extra promotion on the playa to rally interest.
