Virgin burner w/a complicated planning sitch.

Post by DigitalDuck » Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:27 am

Hey everyone!

Name's *Stina and I've been lurking for a bit, trying to gather information and plan accordingly for my first burn. I'm a Bay Area native but I'll be coming fresh from a 2-year residence in Japan. I'll be back in the States for only 2 or 3 weeks before Burning Man starts, also, my boyfriend will be coming from Melbourne to meet the fam and he's a Burning virgin, too.

So although I've been doing a bit of research and trying to see if anyone from back home is going and maybe trying to plan together, I've got to do most of the planning on my own from here in Japan. My family used to go camping a lot when I was a teenager, so I know I can get a tent and some stuff out of mom's garage, but wrapping my mind around planning for this massive event (for which I am totally stoked about) is quite the difficult task.

The boyfriend recently attended Rainbow Serpent in Australia, which is a smaller community event along the same lines as Burning Man, but seeing as how the States is my turf, I have most of the planning responsibility >.<

We're both artists and are really looking forward to participating in the event. I'm multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Japanese), a crafter (knitting, sewing, needlework), and I work in varying mediums (video, audio, locative, digital, etc.)... I like to sing but am still getting over my adverse feelings towards public performance. Any tips for this lady? Any info will be much appreciated.

Looking forward to burning with everyone!

Welcome home both of you! ePlaya has been a tremendous help for me already- and well, people will answer your questions-- but after reading your post, what exactly is (are) your question(s)?

Are you looking for people to meet up with? recommendations on what to bring for your food? Things to give people? General unconfusion?

It almost seems by what you've written you'd fit in well to a camp, but that's a decision you must make. Perhaps reading under the theme camp threads will help you with that?

*hugs*
looking for a home...

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
