playing with fire is bad for those that burn themselves...

Hey -

great to see more Aussie burners on here! I'm a bit further south in the big smoke - and in fact I'm not even originally an Aussie!

Tell us more about what you do with "fire, light, art and celebration" - I'm intrigued! Trying to find a welding course or something here in Sydney so I can gain appropriate skills before September :)

cheers -

we do lantern parades and outdoor fire theatre, similar to the fire event at Woodford Folk Fest if you have ever come across that.. I am the resident fire artist, I make fire pictures like the one in my avatar, and direct shows with all manner of fire effects as well as building big lantern sculptures..

:D it's what i do with my life.. :D

Hey, I'll be coming for the first time - from Melbourne. What you do with fire and lanterns sounds wicked.
Sklang!

Cool. Fire art. I'd like to see more. How can you get your stuff, or something clear over here? Your's would be a great addition to the fire. What do you want to do?

Ever go to Vessa, the Festival of Light?
Sri Lanka, as I recall.
The video I've seen is astounding.

Hi fyrebird,

I like your website. I think you’ll find that Burning Man is probably a good for you, and you for it. Those lanterns look wonderful. I bet you have a fun heart to do such things.

Welcome to eplaya. If you get a chance and see us out there on our Mutant Vehicle, "The Contraption", flag us down for a ride. I’d love to hear more about those festivals. One day I will make it to Australia and New Zealand.

If you can’t find a course to take in time to hit the Burn, try and find someone close by who has a MIG welder that you can play around with. They’re the most user friendly welders to start with, and also the most common kind used on the playa.

And here is a thread that Toolmaker started that gives you lots and lots of information on learning to weld:

Hi Fyrebird

I think we may have met at the 2009 Lismore Lantern Parade. You may not have been fully alert, but I was the mother figure who served you all breakfast.

Welcome to the citizenry of Black Rock City

If you are planning to put some fire sculptures on the playa, I might have a place to deliver materials and assemble stuff in San Fransciso.

If you are looking for a camp we have a small diverse group of aussies and americans who camp close to Main Camp. You would be welcome to join us as we love to extend a hand to virgins.

Check out the regional forum for information on the Seed 2010, it will give you a chance to meet other Burners.
Can we not be the future we want?
