like i said, some people just stop in that time frame in which they were at their happiest or "PeaK"...they listen to the same music, wear the same clothes, and become a cliche of sorts, a remnant, clinging to past glories and escapades as if they were to be treasured.

My goodness! i certainly did not mean to upset you so much. But i must take exception. If not for the past there would be no present or future. And if we do not learn from the past, we are indeed bound to repeat it. And if we do not treasure the past, we will never appreciate the things we enjoy today.

It just might be that the "RETRO" frame of mind is merely treasuring a simpler time. A time when answering the phone was something you did ONLY in the home or office. A time when messages required good penmanship and the ability to get it right the first time, because there was no backspace button. A time when a vibrator would last longer than you did because it was plugged in and not dependent on batteries. A time when movies were special and only seen in theaters on a Friday or Saturday night. A time when we actually had to communicate with each other face to face and practice good manners, read body language and smell good.

Maybe there is meaning to those old songs that tell a story without beating it through your skull. Maybe there are concerts relived, relationships remembered and truly joyful times treasured while listening to those old songs.

And that "pseudo sexual experimentation of the past" was real. Sex education, for what it was worth, was dismal. Where it existed, it was nothing more than a biology lesson. We had no pictures and movies to demonstrate a blow job, sexual positions or even reveal to us the knowledge of such things! It was experimentation because we had absolute ignorance! The ONLY way to discover our sexuality was by actually having sex! Masturbating to a "girly magazine" that did not dare even show pubic hair left one hell of a lot to the imagination. And a picture of a hard dick??? or even a soft one for that matter,,, pfffffftt!

Imagination,,,, hmmmmmm. I guess because of our experimentation and imagination there is much less left to the imagination these days. The present is great and i do enjoy some of the modern music, movies and technologies. It's all easy and efficient and convenient.

To us, that is what Burning Man is all about. Getting back to basics in expressing ourselves, communicating with each other and appreciating our differences in a tangible way. In a simpler, challenging way. Without the internet and cell phones and TV. It forces us to talk to each other face to face and practice good manners and (hopefully) smell good. In a harsh environment and being forced to take responsibility for your own survival, is that not a blast from the past?
