my credit card company called this morning to verify my recent charges........and, it turns out, someone has my card number and is trying to use it.
I didn't even know!
they said a 20 dollar charge looked suspicious, so, they called......and, sure enough, I had no recognition of that company, at all.
they said it was a "test charge", and, if not caught, they'd try a larger one, or more, later.
they immediately canceled my card and said they'd have a new one to me in a couple of days.........

I think that's pretty good, that, they caught it, even before I knew, and, called me directly to confirm and remedy it.........

just sayin'.........some stuff does work pretty good.

Damn it, Ygmir, there goes my return trip to the Playa...I need to stop those little test charges... Looks like more mailbox are going toget looked at tomorrow...

My card got flagged for a bad charge while I was on my way home after b man.
A real pain.
Seemed to be some false charges.
Once I got home, I checked dates and everything, and they had made a mistake.
All charges were legit.
Big error was caused by some places with misleading billing names.
Once I figured out who was who, I had no bad charges.
So I suggest checking carefully.

And always be aware that gas stations in particular delay running charges, so dates don't match.
This is the main cause of cards going over the limit without explanation too.

i just found a charge on my card that was dated 2/1 from a restaurant in portland, where i was last november! i checked out my old statements, it had not been charged, and so was legit... but it freaked me out a little until i figured out what it was, as it's less than 6 months since that $300 bill from ruby's. how does someone spend $300 at ruby's?

Used to be that if you made two identical purchases on the same card on the same day, they canceled out. Too late to tell you about this one, however.
