Does Iraq war = Training to invade BRC?

With the 509th being shipped to Iraq. Does that mean they are simply training to invade Burning Man and want to keep the training out of the eyes of civilians?

Actually, the Nevada ANG as well as the Navy have used BRC for training purposes in past years... those F-18s and C-130s weren't flying over merely for the fun of it.

If those are Spooky or Spectre versions of the C-130 I'd be more scared of it than the F-18s...

Then again a regular C-130 can drop a MOAB or Daisy-Cutter.

Then there's the armored OpFor division out of Fort Irwin in California that does desert training.

From militaryfactory.com:
These heavily armed aircraft incorporate side-firing weapons integrated with sophisticated sensor, navigation and fire control systems to provide surgical firepower or area saturation during extended loiter periods, at night and in adverse weather.
(emphasis mine) -- yep, that sounds like Burning Man alright.

Spooky

Post by calsur » Fri May 28, 2004 1:21 am

So I was on a little training exercise down in Honduras with the Army and before we went out we got told a Spooky was going to come looking for us. We all figured “NO PROBLEM!”, just 12 of us in the woods. Spooky did not stand a chance.

So later we are skulking through the woods and I get a call on the radio. It went kind of like this:

Spooky : Team XX, we have you locked up, please acknowledge.

Me : Fuck you Spooky, you do not have us.

All of a sudden it is daylight! And Spooky is telling me that they will be willing to provide additional proof of being caught but we would not survive it. I declined their offer. That was back in 1985.

Do not fuck with Spooky .

couldn't be a c-130. that vid was shot from a platform. No fixed wing aircraft is gonna give you that kind of relatively stationary platform.

Spooky/Spectre outfitted C-130s.

Imagine a fairly low altitude aircraft with side-firing armaments. They then circle around the target with their armaments facing towards the insid of the circle. They then can track and engage said targets by saturating the area with concentrated fire.

IE: Shred the everliving crap out of anything in its path.

They've been around since the Vietnam days with various revisions over time. I'v read reports of something like rounds of amunition per square foot on the older versions.

I am guessing, if not a C-130, that it was a rotary wing aircraft (Apache, Kiowa) but not likely a Blackhawk or Huey.

And now, with the invasion of Falugia, this becomes more pertinant!
