Hi.. New here

Post by CatGirl » Tue Feb 16, 2010 7:40 pm

Been hearing about burning man from people here in Seattle. Thinking about trying it out. I might join some friends this year.

I'm a computer programmer in the Seattle area in my mid 40's and single right now.

Getting on this site to learn more about burning man before I attend

Welcome, Catgirl!

You can certainly learn a bit, and make contacts, here on the forum. But you must also read the Survival Guide and other official information on the main web site.

Do I detect a slight worry that you may be awful old to participate in Burning Man? Well, no worries! This thing-in-the-desert is for all age groups -- I'm a lot older than you!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

welcome CatGirl.........

are you related to Catman, here?...........

or, it's a super coincidence, probably astral alignment that could portend some future event, and, if described vaguely enough, we could claim foreknowledge and take credit.

jump on in,.......eplaya is a fun place.

Just a super coincidence. I really don't know anyone here. I don't know if the friends I know who have been to burning man are on this site. I just did a search and found this site. Looks like a lot of good information.

Welcome CatGirl :D Like ygmir said, ePlaya is a good spot to shoot the breeze, discuss project ideas and stay connected/informed/entertained about the desert :) . It's a quick fix for the other 51 weeks, kinda like Nicorrette for smokers or Methadone for an ex-user...never as good as the real thing, but it will get ya through  Hope to hear ya on more & think about making the trek!

Thanks, Catgirl; there is a lot of cross-over between KSR and Burning Man. You will see several Kinetic Racing Skulptures pedaling around in Black Rock City.

I spend a lot of time out on Lake Washington - I love the water!!

Those Kinetic Sculpture look like a lot of fun to float around in! :)

There is an effort underway to start a Kinetic race in Seattle. Two or three teams did a trial run last summer. And you already have a race in Port Townsend; first weekend of October every year.

Hello, And Welcome, And Nice to Meet you,

You should do everything in your power to make it to Black Rock City.
The only regret you might have, is that you missed every year before 2010!

Greetings Cat Girl ... another Newbie ... I hope to make it this year too - just don't know how the logistics of getting a tent and air bed as I'll be flying in from Ireland on my way home to Sydney.
Do you have any extra gear I could negotiate to borrow? It could be the start of a wonderful friendship - Sydney isn't soooo far from Seattle!!!!
Happy to make financial contribution and I take VERY good care of equipment
Maybe there are some regulars who could help me ... exploring possibilities at the moment.
