Shelter
...ten-person tent.... designed to withstand extreme temperatures, high winds... 'nuff said.

A smile
Every box contains a children’s pack containing drawing books, crayons and pens. So you, too, can make your own art.

Warmth and protection
In addition to the tent, the boxes contain a range of other survival equipment including thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets, essential in areas where temperatures plummet at nightfall. ...a life saving means of water purification. ... you can recycle your grey water into drinking water!

Radical Self sufficiency
A basic tool kit containing a hammer, axe, saw, trenching shovel, hoe head, pliers and wire cutters can be found in every box. See, meant for burners!

Fit for purpose
Every item is durable, practical and brand new. The box itself is lightweight and waterproof and has been used for a variety of purposes in the past - from water and food storage containers to a cot for a newly born baby. Use it to keep dust out of your food. Or out of your baby.

A heart to the home
A key piece in every box is either a wood burning or multi-fuel stove - that can burn anything from diesel to old paint. This provides the heart of the new home where water is boiled, food is cooked and families congregate. In addition, there are pans, utensils, bowls, mugs and water storage containers.mmmhmmm paint-bacon.

FOR REALS THO...
This is cool, props to this company. Donate for Haiti. But this really did make me think of the burn!

I like the idea, but how expensive is it? And...a 10 person tent fits in that box?

Been looking at military surplus and emergency housing...its almost cheaper to buy a real house. I blame the wars.

This box prices up at around $765.00.

The idea of making this type of box for a disaster relief situations is great. It has shelter, blankets and lots of other general survival gear. In the case of natural catastrophic disasters, this is a great package to pass out to the masses and would give an entire family a good start to getting back on their feet.

I'm sure that some sort of playa version could be worked up with general shelter and lots of lightweight survival gear. I would think that each person has their own ideas of what they need to survive for a week in the desert. It would almost make sense to have a large empty box and fill it from a list of survival suggestions. I guess this is exactly what I do now when I get my tent, sleeping bag and my entire weeks worth of gear into two 50 lb. suitcases. Each item is painfully and carefully chosen based on need, price, weight, value to my survival etc. I am not sure I would want to have a general kit with lots of items that I would never use.

I think I'll stick with my 40' RV with triple slide outs, side-by-side refridgerator/freezer, queen size bed perfect for giving massages, breakfast nook, and atrium windows to gaze out on the unwashed masses. Boy it sure doesn't suck being me.

It's a tent, a cot, and a lounge chair.
