1st timer from london
I'm trying to pull it together, will be in and around L.A for the first time prior to the festival. I am an artist among other trades and look forward to some time to step back re-assess and move forward with my life.
Sorry to be a bore but realistically how much dolla do i need for this wonderfull excursion?
Is it easy to get to black rock from L.A?
Do i just set up my own camp or are there restrictions?
Am I going to have the best time ever?? (ans- yes only, state your pleassure!)
Much Love xx

I am planning approx $1000.00 U.S. Dollars to get me from arizona to burning man this year, driving my beetle packed to the brim with all my supplies. You can probably buy all you need, rideshare possibly with someone in the area, and get there just fine with possibly less then that after you purchase your ticket to L.A.

Welcome fentonius,
First things first, read the first-timer’s guide forwards and backwards. Then ease over to the regionals page for the UK. This will get you started in a direction of meeting up with fellow burners in your area. There are numerous people who come from abroad to the event, so meeting some of them can give you a better idea of what is takes than you can get form someone in the states.
There's overseas burners on this board as well. This is a good place to hang around and glean information from. Lots of wise folk with good hearts hidden below all the snark.
Welcome to eplaya.

Fentoniusrex, you can set up your own camp anywhere that is not posted as reserved space. That means you have something like 90% of Black Rock City to choose from. Many of us choose where to camp based on how noisy the neighborhood is. The loudest music (if that's what it is...) is at the "top" of the city at 10 street and 2 street, and on the inside of the circle. The further from there, the quieter -- generally.
