Computers are handy so I guess as much as I like old stuff, I also like technology.

MIT does some amazing stuff. they actually have some sort of art program. I've forgotten any details.

Have you guys seen Burble? It's a giant net of lit helium balloons. I'm not sure if this is the right video, but in one of the installations it was pretty cool how the balloons formed a massive undulating tower that rippled in the wind and had light effects sweeping along it...
