Virgin Dutchie!!!

Post by lisariya » Tue Mar 09, 2010 12:40 am

Hey people!

I am a dutch girl, 28 years.

I will be hitting the streets of Burning Man this year for the first time!
Looking forward to it só much!
Currently I am thinking about things I can trade or give. I do play guitar, but thats a bit dull. I think I will be bringing my portable music set with me on my bike and ask people what mood they're in and play them a good song! And maybe dance a bit together!! What do you think?! :D

Anyway, for now: HELLLOOOO!! AND SEE YOU SOON!!! Will you dance with me?! :P

Welcome lisariya!
It sounds like your music will be a perfect gift in itself. There is no need to bring anything to trade, and as far as gifting, I would not stress about it. It's not something you have to do, and the first year, you may just want to feel out things to see what you may want to do the second year. If something hits you right, then bring it along.

There are some amazing dance clubs set up along the esplanade with great lighting and music. You will have lots of hopping places to choose from, and you can dance from sun down to sun up if you want to.

Though I do love the electronic music on the playa, I must second this statement. You're idea of randomly playing for people is a good one. And I like your addition of asking them what mood they're in. this makes it more than just playing... you are now giving them a gift specifically for them. Lovely.

One year, as our whole camp was having a lazy afternoon moment lounging around under the shade, a girl walked up with a violin and asked us if she could play. It was really wonderful gift. Then she finished and walked on, gone as quickly as she appeared.

Thanks for your replies! Its good to hear that my ideas are already approved :D
So one last question... If I am biking with my soundsystem with me, when can I offer people my music? Just randomly, or do I have to join a themecamp? Its a funny idea that I might be asking people in the playa randomly: "Hey, what mood are you in right now? Let me play you a good song that will suit you!"haha

You can play your music when the time feels right. There is no need to be in a theme camp for this. You can even be standing out in the middle of the deep playa and start playing by yourself and gather a crowd. It's what works for you---there are no rules or restrictions! :D

Some of the interactions that were the most touching to me were the ones that caught me off guard, so asking someone, “What mood are you in?â€

Definitely acoustic music.

The only thing burning man needs is more dutch girls and acoustic music.

Some of the most beautiful acoustic music I've ever heard was in holland.
I don't see how you can go wrong.
