This will be my first year!

Post by squeakasaur » Wed Mar 03, 2010 10:37 am

I am so excited to go this year. It seems like such an amazing experience. I currently have no camp but I have 2 possibilities. My boyfriend and his whole house is going with a theme camp again this year like they did last year and I hope to be apart of it.

A little bit about me :

My name is Melissa but I go by Squeak.
Why Squeak? Because well I squeak! xD
My favorite animal is a Dinosaur!
I am 19 years old.
I like in Washington State about an hour south of Seattle.
I am a college student and plan to major in Film/Theater and minor in Computer Science and Programming.

Pole Dancing makes people squeak unless they use some lubrication. ;)

Welcome. Is your boyfriend helping you with planning. Has he forced you to read the survival guide time and time again?

Actually my boyfriend did send me that he also sent me something about burning man and relationships.
And really? That is awesome. I am usually in Seattle most of my time which is where my boy and his camp are from.

Welcome squeakasaur :D ! I lived in SeaTac for awhile (about a mile from the airport). Seattle should have a decent Burner community, as well as BM friendly taverns/biz to hang out and chat for pre-compression to give ya an idea of mentalities. Dig it

Haha Yeah yeah. I noticed that but it was too late to fix it. It is kinda weird that you have a time limit to change your posts. :?

I think it is so people have to live with their remarks. It discourages nasty behavior that can be taken back and then denied. I think it works well for correcting errors and keeping things a little more in line around here.
Have a nice day. :)

Mots has it right. There was a lot of editing that went on at one time and this put a stop to it. Or at least slowed it way down. There are places where you have no editing time.

So I have been a little scared lately. I was accepted for the Burning Man scholarship ticket. And I was super excited and at the time I had a job where I was working for my dad. It didn't pay much but I would have been able to go to BM if I continued to work there through summer.
Well I lost that job. My father's boss' daughter quit her job and took mine. My dad had no control over it. She ended up only coming in one day and quiting. So I have been jobless now since February.
I have been hoping and hoping that I will figure something out. Once you get a scholarship ticket you can never apply again. So I was close to giving it up to someone else so that I would be able to apply next year. BUT! Today I had an interview and I now have a new job and will have more than enough money to go to BM. I am super happy 8)

Now I have to just hope that BM will be worth all this. But I can already tell that will be. Doing the simple little things like getting a job and a permit are helping me to become more independent which is really important to me.
I am really excited to go to BM so many of my friends will be going this year. And a lot of them have never been either. So we will be like a big group of first timers :D

My understanding is that if you can't go, and let them know early enough, they will give the scholarship ticket to another applicant and you can apply again another year.
You only get to use one scholarship ticket though.

If you didn't edit that part, I totally missed it.

Glad you found a job you're happy with.
