Newbie Burner... Looking for some advice

Post by Ozzy3421 » Tue Feb 16, 2010 10:08 am

Hey Everyone!

My name's James and this will be my first year joining all you fellow and new burners alike! I"m very excited about this trip and experience! Just looking for some helpful tips and hints that one may not find after reading the first-timers guide and survival guild multiple times!

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Also if you're in the relatively local area of PA (MD, Philly, NYC) and ever would like to meet up for a drink let me know! I"d love to meet some fellow burners before burn time!!

Thanks!

Ozzy

Ah, but there is so much variance, you'd be best off doing what the newb Bling did... go through all the Q&A pages and find what fits you best. It is all here. You'll need to be specific, because very tip and trick you can think of has already been posted.

Good luck and welcome aboard.

Yeah, read bling's post about what he's learned and check the Burning Man Web site for local burners in your area. I used to live in Philly, and there was an active group there some years ago - I don't know if they're still there.

Hey James. I will also be a newbie to this year's burn and have learned tons from reading all the q&a. So far I know rebar is important, water to drink is important, and don't plan on being clean.

Don't forget guys...there IS life outside eplaya as well.

Google "Burning Man first time guide survival" and you'll see tons of website where people have checklists, things to know, etc.

Specific questions are fine if they aren't covered elsewhere of course.

best advice

Post by greenthumb85 » Sun Apr 04, 2010 9:25 pm

The best advice I can give, have extras, even if you don't need it, I know some poor soul will! Someone in my camp always seems to loose their goggles, or forget a dust mask, or leaves their water bottle at center camp or something like that... You don't need extra of every thing, but it's good to have back ups on certain things!

Bring Duct tape! Duct tape fixes every thing!
Experience art naked!
