One Item for BM a Day (2010-2012)
I stopped by Home Depot last night after work because I needed some trim rollers to finish painting our soon to be born daughter's room. I ended up walking around for almost 2 hours looking at everything. Hmmm..that might work for something, this might look neat, what could I do with this. Spent more than double of what I was expecting. Nearly forgot to get what I originally went in there for.
It's pointless to walk when it's past time to run.

Ask the Home Depot employee "Do you have any kind of clear plastic flexible tubing in about 3" diameter?"
He asks why.
I say "to overlay on my bicycle frame with a 1" gap or so that I can fill with bubble wrap and LED lighting"
He stares blankly back at me for a minute. "Why would you want to do that??"
I ended up finding some tubing I might be able to use so I bought a 5 foot test length of it.

Welcome to my work life. I don't work at Depot (anymore) but a place very similar. It's wonderful, all day long, distractions and possibilities, and too much stuff coveted and then clearanced, and then accumulated. I got some plastic wall panels last week, that look like pressed copper 50 cents ea. Yesterday while clearing out an overhead area, I found the adhesive sheets that you can wrap around light switches in the matching finish. 25 cents ea. Both items had gone to something like fourth level clearance and had been zeroed out, so nobody knew we even still had them. Cleaning out overhead areas can sometimes yield some good deals.Bounce530 wrote:I think that post belongs in the 'burnier that thou' topic. lollambert13 wrote:I stopped by Home Depot last night after work because I needed some trim rollers to finish painting our soon to be born daughter's room. I'm trying to think of something for ABC night at the booby bar, or a bike shell perhaps.
I love it.. and very cool idea also!!!lambert13 wrote:Good point.Bounce530 wrote: I think that post belongs in the 'burnier that thou' topic. lol

Very cool site, but I'm just looking for clear inserts at the moment, cheap as I can find to order and get shipped.. hopefully clear with the UV filter still also.Bounce530 wrote:Check this site (if'n you don't know about it already) for LED lens inserts and stuff for you googles.

Rj and I burned a couch in the backyard. Got the fire department called on us. Had to put it out. We had an awesome party for my birthday this weekend...
Don't know how it pertains to BM specifically. But knowing my best burner friend and I will be able to get along JUST FINE... Makes the trip a little less worrisome.

It's technically tomorrow, but thank you!
*Edit*-Glad I finally got to meet RJ, a fellow burner I met on eplaya I've been chatting with for about a month. He drove 3 hours to come kick it with me on my birthday weekend. We worked on the bike-got the first two coats of neon pink, and installed a basket that can haul ice if needed back to camp. I'll get more pictures up later.. I'm still recovering from my hangover.
Wanted to share a fun picture. Fellow Black Rock Citizens-- The first of many Lazy Lizard Lemonade Loungers to come-See you on the playa!

LOL... you do know that's a $500 fine on the playa? And toxic as hell to boot? You'll catch merry hell for that in the desert. Just so you know.... oh, andVictorian wrote:Rj and I burned a couch in the backyard. Got the fire department called on us. Had to put it out. We had an awesome party for my birthday this weekend...

I'm still not sure if I'm gonna make it but I'm trying. I went and got another camper - a huge-ass 11.5 foot slide-in truck camper that puts my dually pickup to the test. It's EXACTLY the same year/make/model as the one I had, but this one is WAY nicer and I stumbled on a great deal on it. (The "old" one had really just plain had it.)
It'll be tough 'cuz due to various circumstances that prevent others from being able to go, I'll probably be on my own... which means no "contributions". I need about 300 gallons of gas total, a ticket, and a few various little things; unfortunately, I work in a construction-related trade that until recently was doing quite well. Now we call a "Good Month" one in which the losses are under $10,000. It took a lot of stupidity, uh, I mean guts, to let go of any spare cash, but if I'm gonna go I needed a new house. So... that hurdle is jumped.
AntiM, haha, we were just at Costco today looking at that oven! I passed it up 'cuz the camper has about the same thing in it, but I know several others who want it!

Spent just about the whole weekend on the motorhome. Got a leaky window resealed and finished putting down 12 x12 tiles saturday and got most of the quarter round molding done.

I'll upload a pic as soon as I find my phone

AntiM beat me to it. I did have a great time renting a sawzall and cutting a couple of couches down to put them in the garbage can size. I'm afraid, alas, that my couch murdering days are over...AntiM wrote:LOL... you do know that's a $500 fine on the playa? And toxic as hell to boot? You'll catch merry hell for that in the desert.
