Need technical help with an art project for BM2010
Hi,
My friends and I have been kicking around the idea of building a human-sized city where marauding human can rampage around and utterly destroy. And then rebuild again.
I've figured out how to build the shells of the building out of cardboard, glue and ducktape so it's pretty figid and strong without being too heavy. However, I'm looking to add another layer of bouncy foam so the humans dont get too cut up.
So i'm looking for a foam like material. I recently had a great experience molding a latex toy for a friend and the latex was formed from two liquids which when poured together solidifed into latex after 24hours. Does anyone know where to get industrial amounts of the two liquids and how to make it less rigid/more flexible.
Also does latex burn without killing everyone around?
Cheers
Ben

interesting idea.
you might want to consider the breezes there, when constructing/securing cardboard, duct tape, and foam.
you might try googling two part latex. I know they use it to make molds for poured PE products.
Latex does have a lovely aroma, when burned.......everyone will love that.
Welcome, though. jump in, and, ask around.
good luck

What about the spray foam insulation for houses? It is sold in cans for the DIYer in stores. I wouldn't burn it though, if it will even burn.bensch128 wrote:

It's pointless to walk when it's past time to run.

You can get big blocks of rigid foam that you can carve to your heart's content.
If you want to burn it, do not use any plastic.

Maybe I'm in a bad mood or something, but... please be careful with any "foam" product.

There is fire resistant.
Of the canned foams, there is polyurethane-superior and everything else.
I think Touch N foam is the polyurethane version.
Any quantity is available.
Not for burning.
Most issues with fire and foam have to do with insulation values and not burning.
But soft sofa foam can burn fast.
