New to Eplaya, but not The Playa!
Hey all, Who's stoked for metropolis this year?!? I know I can't wait to see some huge and awe inspiring art!!!
So since I'm new to this forum, I was hoping someone could tell me the best place to post something. I want to plan the largest collection of people dressed as superman ever! I want to see hundreds of people in blue spandex wearing red underwear on the outside! And I think we need to get the black rock rangers on the boat too! Have them patrol our fair metropolis dressed as the man of steel!
Ok, so I doubt we can get all the rangers in on it, but I'm sure we can still get hundreds of people and maybe even steal the world record away from Metropolis, Illinois for most people dressed as superman in one place! They only have a measly 122 people in costume, I bet we can beet that with out even trying! So where would be the best place to post this and get the plan rolling? And to get a quick idea, there is a poll, let me know if you want to be a part of this, I'll add to this thread when I have a new post going, and we can all figure out a time and day (suggestions welcome, but wait for the new thread please), but the location will be under The Man!
I can't wait to see all you beautiful burners and taste the playa dust again! I miss our home on the playa!
Peace and love from,
Camp romulox and the three domes! (there's no place like dome!)

wow ...only after your post Greenthumb85 I start to think about Metropolis as the Supermans Metropolis. Even thou I know Superman (and like him
), I always thought about Metropolis as the Fritz Lang Metropolis from 1926.
It is amazing how your brain sometimes stay stuck with on thing and refuse to take another
...welcome here Greenthumb85 and thanks for opening new doors for me

I had no intention of dressing like superman, but I think setting a world record could be pretty cool. A record set by a city that mostly doesn't exist.
What other records do you think BRC has set? Intentional or not?
Maybe largest city with not street lights?
Largest city with all dirt roads?
Largest amount of fire spinners in one place at a time? (I'd bet this record is broken by BRC each year)

Why don't ya stick your head in that hole and find out? ~piehole

the plan
Ok, so I'm thinking we meet around the man at noon on burn day. We may not get the record, because I bet most burners will get a little too creative or abstract and may not count towards the record, but it will be fun none the less... The record is for "most people dressed as superman", but I'm all for free expression, have fun with it! The record doesn't really matter, it's just a fun little gathering! I can't wait to see who gets the most creative while sticking with the superman idea! Maybe I should have a contest! Any ideas on prizes?
I plan on wearing superman underwear and a red cape, so I might not even count towards the record, but I'm waiting to get approval and rules from guinness world records, so we'll see!

Someone sent me a useful link on another thread and I got the details for breaking the record. This is what the people in Metropolis Illinois were held to when they set the record.
"The World Record attempt is open to men, women and children wearing a complete Superman costume consisting of a blue bodysuit, red cape, red trunks, red boots (or spats), yellow belt, and the famous red and yellow "S" logo on the chest. The costumes can either be store-bought or home made, but must be approved in advance to make sure they meet the stringent requirements set by the Guinness World Record Corporation for this event."
So we may not get the record due to burners getting too abstract, but it will still be a fun gathering. And there might be a little costume contest or something, still in planning.

There will be a costume contest to go along with the record attempt, contest for most creative superman costume, closest resemblance to superman (from the movies), and best home made costume.... And since there aren't too many events or happenings kids can participate in, lets add one more category for the youngest burner dressed like superman!

Count Me In!!!
Actually, it's ironic...
I'm on the board of the Chris and Dana Reeve Foundation to Cure Paralysis. Chris was and will always be Superman. So... It will be a great honor to contribute to this world record!!!

I'm not going this year but I totally support props out to Christopher Reeves for the awesome that he was and the good that his foundation still does.
How about creating a Facebook event for it so it can get spread virally around FB with ease and get more ppl on board!
I'll even create it for you all :)
Hugs and kisses,

Being a huge Superman fan, I got a kick out of your idea and just for kicks, sent it to one of my BRC campmates saying that if she did it, I would do it too. Knowing how much she hates Superman, I figured I was in the clear (I dont do costumes).
Cut to 2 days later, and I get an e-mail from her stating that not only is she TOTALLY going to do it, but she forwarded the e-mail to a bunch of our campmates and theyre ALL dressing up. Damn !!
They even want to create an art car called the Kryptonite bar that serves absinthe jello shots !.
So as of right now, theres six of us attending. But the e-mail has yet to reach the other 20 or so members of our camp.
Sooooo..... I guess I'm in....... and I'm bringing friends

Bicycle Repairman
I'm hoping to dress as Bicycle Repairman, and I hope there are enough Python fans in attendance to set a world record for same.
