Jeesh touchy guy! This is a public forum for the exchange of ideas, and you seem to be upset because someone ( with a lengthy list of activist credentials I might add) has challenged just some of your assertions...lighten up Joel

Question 1
"If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations."
A pretty big "if" from my perspective, and...
Are the interests of humanity and trans-national corporations mutually exclusive as the question infers?

Question 2
"I'd always support my country, whether it was right or wrong."
Yet, what if you didn't... and you were forced to leave?
It hasn't happened to many U.S.A citizens, but where would you go, if you were asked to leave?

Question 3 and 4
"No one chooses their country of birth, so it's foolish to be proud of it."
So, this means I can't be proud of our successes, maybe even one's I participated in?
The choices were: agree, stongly agree, disagree, strongly disagree.
"Our race has many superior qualities, compared to other races."
Define superior... in what context?

I took the test a few weeks ago, I scored in the lower left, big surprise. I think I was more lefty than gandhi. I attribute this to the fact that,as an individual and not the leader of millions of people I can afford to be less pragrmatic.

i don't find it to be that big of an if. The WTO is already eroding the sovereignty of nations. As far as corps vs peeps, I think in our current legal context, it's very clear that big corps don't have our interests near and dear to their hearts. Certainly the history of the past few years underscores this. Does this mean they have to be mutually exclusive? No. The question is simply asking you for your priorities, economic growth/profit or people?

this is a 'white people are better than black people' type of question. Do we not all strongly disagree?"Our race has many superior qualities, compared to other races"

I don't believe any of the questions were "simply asking for your priorities."stuart wrote:The question is simply asking you for your priorities, economic growth/profit or people?
I believe, as with most surveys, the questions are designed to elicit the responses the surveryor wants, not what the surveyee thinks...
of course, in my humble opinion.

In a rare moment of harmony I could actually agree with Joel on this
I got called the other day by a pollster asking weighted questions against Palestine re: Israeli settler rights etc......I argued with the guy about the wording of the questions to no effect, yes, polls can be skewered to receive expected answers, that being said...on Stuart's poll, I think the wording afforded both Lefties and Righties all the catch word stuff they need to set off synapse burns in the brain to satisfy both parties...again.....check out George Lakoff http://www.brightpathvideo.com at my site or ask me nicely and I'll send you a mp3 or cd of one of his recent talks about the language of politics, to delve into the causes, underlying assumptions and effects of language in this discourse..I believe, as with most surveys, the questions are designed to elicit the responses the surveryor wants, not what the surveyee thinks...

MANAMA, Bahrain - Web sites featuring videos of the beheading of Americans or captives pleading for their lives have become part of an electronic war of incitement, humiliation and terrorist outreach, experts say, providing a window into the minds of militant Muslims who hate the West.
The latest dramatic Web posting came Saturday, a short video that showed no faces but included a voice yelling in English: "No, no, please!"
wow and I thought this was about http://www.foxnews.com ?#*!?

the house of deceitful cards keeps crumbling...when will it get to the top?
By JILL LAWLESS, Associated Press Writer
LONDON - The American general who was in charge of Iraq (news - web sites)'s Abu Ghraib prison claimed she was being made a scapegoat for the abuse of detainees, and said her successor once told her that prisoners should be treated "like dogs." A spokesman for Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Miller, accused of making the "like dogs" remark, categorically denied the charge.

In an interview with British Broadcasting Corp. radio broadcast Tuesday, Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski said Miller told her last autumn that prisoners "are like dogs, and if you allow them to believe at any point that they are more than a dog then you've lost control of them."
Miller was in charge of the Guantanamo Bay detention camp and now oversees U.S. prisons in Iraq.
Lt. Col. Barry Johnson, a spokesman for detention operations in Iraq, said Karpinski's allegations were "categorically false."
