SHUT EM DOWN, PERMANENTLY. Westboro Baptist Church >:X

Post by gerlachedNloaded » Tue Apr 13, 2010 9:29 am

I, for one, get physically sick when these "people" (more like animals) are mentioned in any way shape or form. I HATE them. i don't hate anyone.. but i HATE these people. and now they are being financially supported to continue their reign of hate by the U.S. 4th court of Appeals. I understand free speech, but this is akin to yelling fire in a crowded theater, and taking people out with ak-47s while they try to flee. It's reckless, hateful, and disgusting. Please support Mr. Snyder and pray the Supreme Court has their common sense/decency wigs on for once.

If you want to see what i mean, go ahead and visit this church's website. www.godhatesfags.com.
and yes, that's serious.

that first amendment is a double edged sword, to be sure.....
But, if a line is drawn, it becomes arbitrary, and, then, movable........not that it isn't now, but, well.........as vile as they are, who's got the power to shut them up?
Other, than, individuals, acting on their own behalves......

Yes, as much as you dislike what they have to say, and how twisted you think their views are, you simply can't shut them down for that alone. Just like they can't shut you down for your views. It's what freedom of speech is all about! It's very hard sometimes to step back and realize what things would be like if we could shut down groups that we feel are distasteful.

i know ygmir.. i know. In this case, though, shouldn't an individual, acting on his own behalf, and that of his dead son's, be able to pursue damages due to an invasion of privacy, extreme emotional distress, harassment, and disturbing the peace... without infringing on someone's so-called right to free speech? Court A says yes, Court B says no. Court B also says if you make the attempt, you will pay dearly. I could call Deputy Dangle on the corner Mr. Fucktard of the Year to his face.. and i bet i couldn't get away with it...Dirk Dickhead can scream and holler at a passerby on the street and be arrested for disturbing the peace...Joe Schmoe can follow citizen Z around all day and be arrested for harassment and/or stalking. So why can't this service be extended to these douchebags? Its a sad state when the law is actually perpetuating the problem by protecting the aggressors, "just because". once again, i'm a huge fan of freedom of speech..
Shutting them down isn't an option.. i realize that yall. making them responsible for their actions is maybe a better gameplan.

yeah, I agree.
ergo, my reference to individuals, doing what they think they can/should/must.......perhaps, groups, following them, protesting them, shouting them down, protesting at their church.....? .......

well, some make take a different course, too.
If on a jury, and, the soldiers family member were on trial for beating the snot out of one or more of them.......I might acquit........

we the people, don't realize the power of the jury..........we should exercise it more often.

just sayin'.........

People can't protest activities at their church.. because they don't have one. They are a transient group of people from Kansas who call themselves a church. That's it. It is one man and his 80 person incest ridden family.
I hear and appreciate your sentiment though. I've done face to face with the founder and his crazy wife more than once, and it took every stitch of rationality in my brain to not go cro-magnon on em. Doesn't help they are followed around by scores of law enforcement everywhere they go. Pussies. oye. what a world we live in.

i read an article recently that was about people protesting these guys. They made random signs, "I like pie" "I have a sign" "honk", and picketed where they were. everyone would pay attention to the protesters rather then the hate filled crazies.

Badger posted of his experiences over on another board recently.

Phelps and his clan made the mistake of protesting at a high school several hundred yards from where he lives a few months back. They were there to rub the student's faces in the fact that the school has seen three teen kids killed who committed suicide by throwing themselves in front of the local CalTrain commuter train. The then followed up their demo by going to the nearby Stanford campus to protest in front the Jewish Student dorm. He takes it from there....
The Jewish students at the Hillel House on campus where the Phelps family was protesting in front of were mad as hornets.

The mood changed a bit once the awesome Stanford band started playing and effectively drowned out anything coming out of the Bullhorns of Vileness.

Stanford police had to pack the Family of Vileness into a van and escort them away from where their immobilized rental van sat crippled due to air having been liberated from three of the four tires.

Interesting to see a cowering group of God's Messengers cower like puppies in a thunderstorm when a small group of angry, vocal students followed them back to their escape vehicle only to find out it wasn't going anywhere.

It's a little after 10am. I think I'll make a mimosa and some poached eggs benedict.

My work here is done.
Not long after it seems their were several edits on the Phelps home page showing their remaining itinerary for the bay area...

Evidently not all of their stops had been obstructed and they did end up making it to San Francisco where they protested in front of a Jewish MIDDLE-SCHOOL! I mean, you just KNOW how political those young ten and eleven year old kids are.

I guess Badger followed them up there from San Francisco to say 'hi' as he again writes...
Look, sometimes I know I can go a bit overboard at times. Hell, someone who hardly knew me even called me 'abrasive' once.

But I couldn't stop. It felt like the hunt was on.

I'd caught the scent.

So, after posting earlier this morning I decided to try following the posted itinerary of those Kansan knuckle heads.

So I drove on up to San Francisco and found them protesting in front of the Jewish middle school over on Ellis. You know, telling eleven and twelve year olds about how they're going to hell and all that rubbish.

Here's a depiction of what it was like before my arrival.
Image
Here's a pic of what it was like after my arival.

Wait. What is that sign you ask? You mean, what did the sign read that I was waving three feet from the faces of those intellectual Neanderthals?

Gosh! That Badger can be a real asshole!

long beach

Post by VeganChoirGirl » Tue Apr 13, 2010 3:08 pm

I live in long beach, ca and spent a whole weekend protesting these people as they pickets at my temple, in front of a public high school, at the jewish community center. They are a biggoted, hate filled group that post youtube videos delighting in the deaths of children, gay bashing, and natural disasters. They have the right to say whatever they want to say, but in this case I really think they should be put in their place. Any random collection of people who did something similar would have been arrested, but they are high profile. So...inevitable, I think it will be decided that they were within their rights.
Finally moving to SF...can't WAIT!

I think the band idea is perfect........drown them out with music......raucous, delightful, music........play it till their ears bleed.....

can you imagine, wherever they go, a marching band, comes around the corner, playing loud........hahahaa

I always figured my rights end where they infringe on another person's rights. I suppose that's simply too simple?

yeah, that's a great way to look at it, but, pretty ambiguous......in that, we all have our own ideas of rights and who's is what.......

Like at the Burn.......folks will drive around at 4 am, playing loud music, and park right in front of a camp.......if you come out pissed, you're the ass for telling them it bugs you..........but, really........

or, when someone blows dust, from a lawn mower or whatever, at you, and, you get pissed.......

in the above, the perps. think it's funny, you may not.......who's to judge?

tough one.

If you grab the tire valve firmly with pliers (perhaps dikes would be more appropriate in this case?) and pull firmly, the whole assembly comes out of the rim.
This is very useful to remember if you spot someone robbing your neighbor's house.
It does no other damage, so that is handy if you're mistaken or it's a stolen car.
Remember to pull at least two.
It is quicker than cutting tires too.

As a result of airing up big tires, I now have every valve removal tool made, and the tiny short one is a very handy size.

ygmir, using your example on the playa, I would not be infringing on their right to play loud music at 4AM, just not in that particular spot because they have the whole fucking desert to do that. In that scenario, I have one place to lay my head and that would be the difference.

The OP refers to idiots spewing hatred within earshot of a warrior's funeral. It is not infringing on their right of speech to make them do it elsewhere. You can bet your farm they would not be within several blocks of an Obama speech but they would still be allowed to speak. The funeral cannot move and there lies the difference.

yeah, I totally get what you're saying, and, therein lies my dilemma.......
I so much support freedom, speech and otherwise, and, as adamantly, support the family, burying their beloved son, to have peace and dignity........
That is were, sometimes, we are forced to make a choice, and, both options stink.
and, within said choice, we prove who we are.

If someone, walked up and knocked those bozo's out, for disturbing that funeral, and, I was on a jury, I'd acquit.

In the Viking days, they used "he had it coming", as a valid defense at Alting.
I agree with that concept......all laws, and rights aside, sometimes, "they get what they ask for"......

it's just tough, to me, to make a black and white choice.

Imagine if several hundred service men and women, in uniform, arrived and peaceably assembled across from the "protesters", and sang military songs and the national anthem, etc.

For that matter, several hundred citizens doing this would be pretty damned impressive also...as long as it remained orderly and peaceful.

I would whole-heartedly agree to that scenario. But damn it anyway! Some folks just gotta get a fuckin' life! It just blows me away how single-mindedness can infest society so blatantly.

And don't get me wrong! If I were in attendance at that funeral, I probably would have ended up in jail for some kind of assault charge. Idunno how MLK and Ghandi did it,,,,
