Howdy folks.
BM04 will be my second Burn. Last year I was traveling light and didn't know what to expect, so I left my drum kit (tuned for rock/metal: five Zildjian cymbals, three toms, two kicks, snare) at home and pined for it the whole time. This year I'm bringing my drums out to BRC.
Problem is, all the drumming references I've seen on ePlaya and various camp descriptions have been to hand percussion (djembe, conga, etc.), tribal-type stuff, not actual drums with kits and sticks. Will I be totally out of place in BRC? Or is there a camp that would welcome me?
Kit-based drummer?

Im a self taught guitarist/drummer with predominate experience on bass.
I was considering trying to make an improv music camp complete with a full kit, midi pads, hand drums of all sorts, and an array of guitars of course... Seemed like a cool idea perhaps. However, it doesn't look like ill be able to put a kit together in time for bm04...
I do however have a mid-sized casio keybaord and two old roland drum pads than can both act as midi controller, a couple guitars with my computer acticing as a beefed effects processor, a good sounding djembe (prolly 18" head,) a trombone, and probably a few shakers and things of the random sort.
I imagine we could find some other people willing to bring some random things and it might turn out to be quite a bit of fun...
Anyone interested?

Hey, everybody.
How cool! I was thinking the same thing. I play the drums in a punk band and have been thinking of bringing my kit to BM. It’s a little crusty, but works well and sounds good. Do you know of any camps that might take us? Should we form our own?
Also, do you all know about the Burning Man Drum Consortium? I will be brining my marching snare and practicing and performing with them and the Fire Conclave folks the night of the burn. You should consider joining up, if you haven’t already. They are at http://www.drumconsortium.com/.

I need a drummer
Hi Poledouris,
My name is Miles and I play guitar and sing..
I have been invited to my first Burning Man to perform in the
Sugar Shack at some point in the second part of the event,
say Thursday on.. I really need a drummer, with a kit (!!)
to play for my show.
I play basic rock.. originals, some surf, blues, etc.. I have a
great time playing .. they have the PA, so all I need is a drummer and
a bass player.
Hope to hear from ya.
