hmm... i in Oregon right now. my understanding is that the olcc here is more strickt than most states. all you have to ask is "are you 21?" and the stinger has to say yes if they are and no if not. they cannot lie to you or it becomes entrapment. similar to a cop on a drug deal.

simple prevention. i think most people at the event would respect your asking, and the older folks may be flattered. I work at a pharmacy and i ask the older gals if they are old enough to buy cough syrup because my register prompts me before sale. i've gotten "your momma taught you well." as a response. :)

One of the things that I like about being on the playa is not being weighed down by documents and cards.

I was once asked for proof of age, so I pointed to the gray hairs in my beard.

I thought re-opening this thread for 2011 event may prove helpful to those unlucky few who experienced what our camp did last year.
This year we had no problems. We plastered the Pershing County dismissal papers on our bar and pointed to them when people needed to know why.
However I am sure,as a potential"repeat offender",we were probably targeted.Every suspicious encounter took place in the afternoon.I mean how would anyone at that time ever know this empty and quiet tent had beer to give out?
One instance in particular stands out.A youngish couple strolled in Wed. and struck up aconversation with a French camper of ours.I was lucky to turn around just as he was getting ready to hand them a beer.Instincts now finely tuned after last years experience I asked if they showed him ID.They had not.The guy protested claiming"they had just got there and my girlfriend is real nervous and needs a beer".I then asked if they were 21 and without another word they left.

That's pretty cool you got it dismissed. What did the lawyer friend of yours say to them that took care of it?

He basically informed them that a)I would be contesting it and b)Their case was not exactly air tight.

Again I believe if anyone who contests these infractions in the least will get the case dismissed.Pershing County and their ilk are just depending on a certain number, due to geography or inertia,to mail in the check.
