Locked in a new job that not only pays better, but doesn't have a problem giving me the time off for the Burn.

Baby steps, here!

I'd say thats one of the most important steps. Insuring you have a job when you get back, is pretty high on my list of 'to does'

Wish I'd thought of looking there! We got a bunch of battery operated LED candle-lights (multi-color) on eBay and figured we'd zip-tie the cups to our stakes. 'Course, now we have to get UV-proof zip ties...

Got this today for our trailer. We plan to attach wet sponges to the back to make a swamp-cooler set up:

We're planning to make a "Granny Bike" with a huge, windproof patio umbrella for shade (http://www.thegrannybike.com/images/gra ... hs&sjs.jpg), and today I found two identical vintage Sears "Spaceliner" bikes for $65 each! We need to strip the paint on one to get it back to the chrome and fill up the tires, and that's about it! Woohoo!!! (I haven't had a bike since HS, which is...a while now. :D)

4 new tires and a complete front end repair done on my car, thanks to the magic of potholes.

I'd now trust it to pull the 1500 mile run out to BM. On the other hand, there went all my savings!

this sounds cool! The granny bike is a very neat non-welder solution to a non-tippy dual rider vehicle. I'd like to talk to someone who's used it and see how they like it. let us know how your's works.

I've seen them out there, the riders seemed quite content.

LOL, windproof patio umbrella. You mean, sail, yes? We have a shade canopy made from a little kid's sun cabana with a cover I sewed. We cut slits in it one year. We'd speed away in the wind, then slug back against it. But for the most part, bike shade does work. You just see less and less of them in use by the end of the week.

Get a little pump up mister system for the umbrella, very nice.

Nearby? We're in the Midwest! :D

The umbrella is made for heavy wind, but if it's REALLY gusty, we'll put it down. Also planning to use solar lights on it and blinkies for nighttime.

Somehow, finding the bikes makes the whole Burning Man thing more REAL. (Getting the tickets in the mail helped, too!)

I think im gonna hook a single mist emmiter too the top front of the fan and try it in my tent. One emmiter with a garden sprayer pumped up should last a couple of hours.

We got a battery operated swamp cooler at Cabela's to bring along. Today, I ordered matching bike baskets for our "Snowmobile" (we're camping in the Snowflake Village).

So then the sponge will need to be porous enough to let air through. Maybe cheap sponge will be better than quality sponge.
Maybe wet cloth instead of sponge.
I have one of those fans at home, I'll try it this weekend.

On another note, I'm going to look at another 10x20 canopy this weekend.
The guy quoted me $85, only been used once and put back in the original box. The guy also says he has 3,000 sq-ft warehouse he is trying to close out, cause he is retiring his business..... I'm hoping to get a tour of his warehouse.

I got a 12V door bell display unit with about a dozen doorbells on it. Not actual doorbells, but an electronic tone generator that simulates a dozen doorbells. Could be crazy making, but all the momentary switches, and the and the wiring, and speakers. too damned compelling.

I hit on a new gift idea that involves shrinky dink plastic (God, I love that stuff!) and a new set of colored pencils. Wheee!

Bike Basket

Post by EmilyD » Thu Apr 22, 2010 10:07 pm

That doorbell thingie sounds crazy good! Mmmm shrinky dink also good. Today's item at our house was really cool lift-off bike baskets. The were super easy to install and we can carry the basket with us when we go watch something burn, or join a camp event or whatever. Takes the load off our backs when biking:
