12DCv to 110/120ACv Inverters
I need to run a 500-600 watt inverter. It's for a stand alone solar power and will be outside, not inside an RV. They seem to have built in cooling fans. I'm pretty sure that sticky dust is not good for inverters. Does anyone have any experience with them on the playa?

There are some without fans, a shortcut to good design anyway.
A good one might be adapted to a proper heatsink too.
Extra heatsink can easily be added to a design like this, and I recommend shade.

I run two small inverters on my mutant vehicle, an 800-watt and a 1200-watt. They have little fans. So far they've survived - but the reason I have two is in case one fails.
I have them mounted in a wooden cabinet to shield them a bit.

Definitely recommend shielding them a bit...I've had to open them up and use an air compressor to blast the dust out when I got home...but I've got 2 inverters that have made it through 8 burns and they still work.
