Hi all! My name is Ted and I'm the guy who built Nothing Without You theme camp in 2002. We have since made our footage into a 51 minute documentary film called: Nothing Without You. www.nothingwithoutyou.net.
We have received overwhelming support from Burners and Non-Burners alike as we travel with this film from Ashland to Phoenix, from Newport Beach to Hollywood. We're off to the UK, Boulder and Wine Country next. Several hundred people came to the ARTIVST screenings in Hollywood and propelled us to the award for Audience Choice for Best Film.
Many Burners have said that this film really shows what Burning Man is all about: generosity, gifting, vulnerabilty, trust and a community of caring.
I guess I'm just curious to know if you agree? If you've heard about the film or the theme camp? If you have any interest in seeing a film like this or telling your pals about a film like this.
I realize that there might be some critics out there who find my TOTAL lack of preparation contrary to Burning Man ethics. I agree one one level. But I had to start with nothing in order to test my hypothesis. ( I also had a lot of faith in the communitiy ) Also, I should point out that we were a mapped and approved theme camp in 2002 and that in our proposal for that camp we stated that should my health be in severe jeopardy that the crew would come to my aid.
So, yes, there was a net. But I didn't need it. In fact, so many people came to my rescue that I often ate better than my crew.
I look forward to your take on any of this.
