Helllloooooo Burners! (First Timer - Super Excited!)

Post by JustinWasHere » Mon Apr 26, 2010 11:56 pm

hello there folks!

well, I'm very excited to be attending Burning Man for the first time this year - woohoo!

I thought I'd join the ePlaya and give you all a quick introduction, as I'm sure I'll be coming up with lots of questions to pester you with soon ;)

So, hello all! I'm Justin - 27, a California native, but a citizen of the world - I've lived and worked and traveled all over the globe, but somehow, i've never been to the Playa! I'm always excited about new horizons and I think Burning Man will be an incredible experience!

I'm working on getting a group of other artsy and adventurous friends together to join me, but i may be rolling solo, so I'm hoping to make some connections here.

looking forward to meeting you all!

My first time too! Welcome!

My advice is to read everything on eplaya, burningman.com & if you want to see videos go to current.com and search for burning man.

If had 100's of my questions answered by doing all of that.

hi there Shroom!

yeah, i've been obsessively reading everything on burningman.com for the last few days :) lots of great info there, for sure.

I will check out Current and see what they have -- thanks for the tip!

a friend directed me to an interesting article on instructables that you might find interesting:

Welcome JustinWasHere, I'm also a first timer but know I many, many burners (who I've been getting advice from). I've also gotten many great tips from this community as well as on the Tribe. Of course you need to read the survival guide (over and over) and start making lists of the stuff you'll need to bring. It's all about radical self-reliance and making connections with like-minded humanoids. It's going to be fabulous!

shroom, thanks for the tip about current.com, I hadn't heard that one yet. There's a lot of info there I see.

Welcome, welcome. Birgin here too, nice to see another Californian. Someone once told me that if you throw a rock in California, you're almost guaranteed to hit a Burner. :D

My current favorite California rock to throw, is his honor the governator.
