Hello!!! I am SO thrilled to be coming to Burning Man as a first-timer this year! My name is Melanie, I'm 23, I'm a lesbian, I just graduated from college and I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Burning Man! My DAD actually suggested the idea to go this year and offered to pay my way, so we'll be attending together. He's pretty awesome :) I want to make TONS of friends and have the most amazing time I possibly can. Any suggestions?? (especially regarding LGBT events!)
XOXO

in many ways, BRC is the most queer friendly city in the states. Maybe because it's a holiday crowd and so the homophobic institutions don't have as large a presence, or maybe there's a self-selection process that weeds out the ones with shaky identities. However, there are camps (Comfort and Joy is one) that are predominantly queer.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Be sure to visit Camp Beaverton (all lesbian)and Camp Gender-bender. They camp with us, Urban Decay Cafe (Last year we were called Mudskipper Cafe, but change the name for the theme), Quixote's Cabaret, VICC (Vietnamese Ice Coffee Camp, Astro-Pups, Celestial Bodies, Camp Stella (Clean and Sober) and Camp Montage.
We were all part of Avalon Village, which just disbanded last year, but all of the camps still camp together and all LGBT community camps and all have scheduled activities open to the general playa.
Our camp serves root beer floats!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
