from desert 2 desert (Virgin!)

Post by rootless » Sat May 01, 2010 8:21 pm

Hello! hello!

I'm new and cannot wait to make my first Burning Man experience a good one. From the Sonoran desert (Tempe, AZ), I am committed to my dream of making it to Black Rock City.

I do have to leave for my sister's wedding, the 4th (Saturday), so I'll miss the big weekend . I hope that four solid days (5 with travel) will be enough to make the connections and community successful. I hope to see you all there.

My travel plans are to fly to Reno, and rent a car.

Hi!

Originally from the Midwest (Kansas City), but have lived and made my home in Florence, Italy (1 year) and NYC (5 years).

Been in Arizona for about a year for school. I enjoyed my trip to Coachella (that was close, 4 hrs) but you are lucky to be right next to BRC! (120 miles ain't bad!)

Many people prefer the earlier part of the week, fewer crowds and less emphasis on spectacle.

That's great news about the earlier part of the festival. My family is now upset that I'll be missing the "rehearsal dinner" for the wedding...meaning, I would have to leave the playa to get home by Thursday night.

I haven't booked my plane tix yet, and I'm wondering now if getting there at 12:01 am on the 30th, and leaving on the 2nd (in the morning) to get to this stupid wedding rehearsal. I think those 80 hours or so would be enough.

Esp. for a first timer. That, and I wouldn't P.O. my family...but I'm afraid I'll be having too much fun to leave lol

Rootless -

It will be tough to leave I guarantee it - You will find yourself pushing the departure times and justifying it in your head by saying things like 'Ill take a later flight" of "ill sleep on the plane" good luck
