And speaking of hammocks, I did tell you all about these right:
http://www.rvtoyoutlet.com/p-RV0302.html
They only weigh 20 pounds but support up to 450. I know they just got a shipment of them in because we've been waiting almost 2 months for the other half of our order.
Oh...and check out this $107 portable generator:

It even has, "Built-in radio with iPodâ„¢ input" never seen that before.

. Yeah they're super comfy. I figured we'd be spending a lot of our sleep time in these hammocks under the shade during the hot, daylight hours. The price on these is amazing for what you get...it's a fine piece of equipment. I'm sure we'll be using ours for many camping years to come.shroom wrote:I want one of those hammocks!

Quiet Operation (65 decibels @ 7 meters)
• Produces power without disturbing your neighbors
Not as quiet as a Honda EU, but not too awful bad.
Are you really going to be able to put that 7 meters (~21 feet) away--without having it be on top of someone else? The Honda EU's are 58-60 DB (and it doesn't say you have to be 7 meters away). But 65 DB is 5x louder than 60. So, it's a BIG difference.
Incidentally, I don't own a generator and don't have a dog in this fight. So, I'm not trying to be critical, but if you've ever been next to a LOUD generator at an event, you'll see what I mean.

Today I'm Returning Shit!
Apparently part of this preparation process is doing returns. The BPA-free Camelbak bike water bottles I got don't have the bit valve top...they only have a big screw off cap. Not what I wanted. So...back they go. Also, after reading everyone's different solutions to transporting/storing quantity water I've decided to return the collapsible jugs and get firm ones. We need them for back up of our trailer tank which is quite small.
Here's why I'm willing to pay extra to go BPA-free:

My Sweetie IS a keeper, EmilyD--I've kept him for 27 years so far.
We got RAYGUNS!!! Prepare to be eradicated! And picked up another SPF 50 small shade dome on eBay. While I'm away this next week, my Sweetie says he'll strip the painted bike back down to the chrome. Our bikes are circa 1965 and look just like this--without the cool "tank" on the front (those were rusted). http://www.viktorschreckengost.org/image/4860.jpg.

I'm finally testing the Coleman solar charger on the deep cycle battery today. Unfortunately I got a very late start so I'll see how much juice a few hours of sunlight will add. I'm not expecting much, but will try to do a full day of sun tomorrow.

Coleman Solar Charger/Deep Cycle Battery
Okay a short initial test:
4 hours full sun charging = 2 hours regular (non LED) string of 8 Xmas lights powered.
Tomorrow I'll set it up to start earlier and get a full day's sun on it.
