Dust & Illusions, 30 years of BM history April/May/June

Post by obonin » Tue Apr 20, 2010 12:52 pm

After 1 year of sold out screenings through North America and a huge success at film festivals, the film will be screening in these places:
  • * Apr 21st, San Francisco, CA
    * Apr 22nd, Spokane, WA
    * Apr 23rd, Seattle, WA
    * May 6th, Minneapolis, MN
    * May 26th, San Francisco, CA
    * May 30th, Cape May, NJ
    * June 3rd, Santa Cruz, CA
All shows can be found here:

The film, DUST & ILLUSIONS,explores the entire history of the Burning Man event. Whether you have been to Burning Man or not, or are even interested in the subject, the film goes beyond the simple event in the desert, and looks at how ideals/utopias we've had in our youth evolve through an entire lifetime. Specifically, the documentary starts in the late 1970s with 2 groups of people out of the San Francisco underground movements all the way to the multi-million dollar business Burning Man has become, and how politics might have replaced philosophies.

All, whichever screening you may go to, get your tickets online, since they're $8 or $12. Door is always $15. So getting it now can get you a ticket 1/2 price.

Movie was interesting. It was crazy to see what the burn used to be in comparison to what it is now. Didn't make me have any revelations but it did make me want to go home :) Right now!

You knew about Desert Siteworks? Suicide Club origins, the religiosity of Larry?

I really enjoyed your film when you screened it in Bezerkeley Olivier. It was a bit haunting to hear Tom's voice narrating but also comforting. He lives on in so many people's lives and art.

i saw the film in san francisco, and thought it was very interesting.

As olivier noted, it was a tad Anti-Larry.

the question i wanted to ask during the Q & A session was this:

"is there a symbiotic relationship between being French and Dissing Larry, and if So, how does this apply to Jerry Lewis Movies?"

but i didn't.

I found it informative but it didnt make me think anything different of the event..
I realize my burn is my burn and other peoples burns are their burns..
