new camp for displaced burners

Post by mindfunk13 » Thu Jun 10, 2004 8:26 pm

after a disturbing experiance with one of the suposedly loving and accepting camps on the playa i have discovered the need for a camp for all the people who have ever felt left out, rejected, inappropriate,or otherwise dissplaced. time is running out and we need to start planning. we must stop the prejudices of mundane world from infecting brc. won't you help?

"the island of misfit burners" That would be just lovely. I was part of a village last year, and even with all those people I had a hard time making a connection. A camp to bring all kind of burners together would help to expand the feeling of family to new and experienced burners. I think that would be great :D

if that doesn't follow through, there is a camp called
"just show up camp", headed up by some very cool canadian burners, one being a ranger.

very good people. they usually camp between 6:00 & 8:00 on the clock in the theme camp section.

We always set up along the 8:30 line in the burbs. Lots of wandering burners end up camping around us. Makes for real friendly surrond. Last year there was breakfast-coffee just across the street. Hope to see Rose there. Just say "hi" and your home.
I'm the contraptioneer your mother warned you about.

Hey MindFunk!!!

Gargoyle from TLP here. I just wrote you directly.

May it be that I was too late w/ my invite and info to you?
We'd love to have you, and any of you out there listening.
As "Lost Penguin" implies, we are certainly an inviting 'igloo' to those who find themselves 'lost' or alone at BRC.

We've been fortunate to have gained several new members since I had JackRabbit post my shout-out for fresh blood for TLP on BMUpdate.
It worked! But we want even more!

We offer comparatively luxurious accommodations indeed(1300watts of power, frigerator, stove, soundstage, lighting, fans, lots of lounge area, all under 7 large carports of shade...and all the wine&chocolate you can handle without a prescription).
We are always placed along the Esplanade, and have a unique 'family' vibe, while always letting members 'do their own thing'.
Just as long as members contribute, help maintain camp, unload/load,
and truly *PARTICIPATE* like your ticket says!

You can all check us out at http://lostpenguin0.tripod.com
and can contact me at: [email protected].

Hope to hear from you, and MindFunk; let me know what your currents plans are, brother.

love, the Gargoyle

Just checking in to see how things were going. I also wanted to say to tears that I went through the same thing last year with my camp. It drove me crazy to have gone through all I had to get to BM and to be basicly ignored. :x

Dang--
It seems I was a little at loose ends both years I attended. (Why am I going back? Does the word "mulish" mean anything to you. But it's also why I'm on the board, trying to make more connections so that I don't have to start from almost scratch on-playa this year.)
So, I'm camping with the Fire Fighters (BRCVFD). Okay to come by, hang out and maybe say "Let's go explore the city?"

I wanted to say hi in displaced solidarity to everyone who posted! I will be in the Lamplighters camp, and it would be really cool to stop by your camps to say hello and vice-versa. Here's an early e-playa hello. :]

Hey KC,

I'm a newby and will be in the Lamplighters camp as well, as will _tears_. I'm confident that we'll definately connect with the cool people. Fuck all the rest of 'em.
...but it seemed like such a good idea at the time...
