negativity eraser

Post by jenny » Wed Apr 14, 2004 2:09 pm

I've been noticing lately that I have been reacting with a lot of negativity to situations in my life. I have a car again (yuck...) and I get very frustrated at stupid drivers, even when I do some of the things I complain about as well. Also, I'm waiting tables, and there's so much negative energy going back and forth at times, I think anyone whose worked in a restaurant can understand me there.

I'm tired of feeling anger, annoyance and stress. I used to meditate and found that that naturally helped my attitude so much so I think I need to start that up again. (Not sure why I stopped in the first place.)

So anyway, making this playa applicable, I think I'm going to make a negativity eradication zone out somewhere on the playa. I'm not sure what it will consist of yet, but I'd like to have some way to bring things that represent my feelings and of course then burn them away... I also think that warning signs of the impending negativity zone would be fun and useful. It would kinda suck to be floating across the playa and unsuspectingly come across a monument to all this crap.

Does anybody else have some negativity to purge?

- Jenny

p.s. when did i become such a hippie?

Deep breath... relax... Don't let it get you down...

Here’s an idea for you:

Whilst working on my “Vault of the Heavens” kilt, I’ve noticed that the the 10 oz. Canvas duck cloth is, well... a canvas. And at 60" wide and $5.00 a yard, you could set up a long serpentine run of this stuff for anyone to paint, draw, etc their negativity on. Get it out of yourself and onto the canvas. Then at the end of the week it could be rolled up, tied with a silk cord and cleansed away by burning. Just a thought.

I'd rather see a minivan with a mother dummy driving it with children in the back in various stages of not being buckled in. And a very large sledge hammer or two.

You know, I was just crusing through the site and asking myself again, why aren't I going to the burn this year. 2003 was my first burn and all I have are fond and exciting memories of a place I never knew could exist and more than that, a place I would actually visit. My experience there is incomparable to anything else that i've done in my life. And my great joy was somewhat muted when I attempted to explain it to my wife (g/f at the time). And now the day of the Burn is upon us again. Sorry for the lengthy spiel but i felt some explanation was in order, you have given me the push/shove/nudge and HELP that i needed to realize that i/we need to attend this years burn, and to MAKE it happen ;). For one simple reason, you voiced your opinion of negativity. I've realized that since the burn last year, i have horribly deteriorated into a negtive person :(, shame on me, and thank YOU for your subtle message to my inner consciousness :D that said basically, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GO. haha. And again to all burners, i shall see you soon, in our home.

p.s. would love to see a negativity free zone and would love to contribute my...ummmm....help? :) thanks again.

I'm in.......

There are various techniques of 'catching spirits' that might work, although the 'raw meat' variant that the Shoshones use may not be the most glamourous, but let me know what you want... I'll do my part.

i've become a horribly negative person. i will definitely help out, what do you have in mind? and can i bring pictures of the things that make me feel awful? maybe we can make a bulletin board? i like the idea of the trail of cloth for people to draw/paint/write on, we could figure out a way for people to post pictures, you could "borrow" a menu from where you work and post it, i could bring you a price list from work, etc., and we could burn them all!

That is one of the best ideas i have heard in all the years i have been going. I also have let the presures of everyday life let me become negative. I like the idea of the cloth to burn and bringing items that represent the negative thing in ones life. What about having group meditations, maybe at sunrise (for the birth of the new day). To start the day anew. If there is anything i can do to help please let me know.

I seem to have struck a chord with Sams from near and far! Even if nothing else were to come of this, I still feel better already somehow just acknowledging it and hearing from you guys. Mr/Miss. alkali - your post made me feel great.

I think this could be a fairly simple project to accomplish. We could all bring some parts to the whole and meet on playa to put it all together. Mr/Miss. -tzu, I'd love to hear some of your spirit catching techniques. Just hearing about it gets me into research mode.

Anyone who's interested PM me your email addies and we can work stuff out.

yours,
jenny-sam

Well... first of all, I would suggest you change your name to 'Sam' so we can get a real team going...

Either that, or we could all change our names to 'Jenny'...
