What can I expect???
Hello, Happy here. I am planning on attending Burning Man in 2011 for the first time. I have been to several regionals...I went to Scorched Nuts, TansformUs, Orphinarium, and Alchemy in 2009. This year I'm going to Scorched Nuts, TransformUs, Recycled Rainbow, Alchemy, and OctOHburn. My question is what all do I need to bring to Burning Man and about how much can I expect to spend my first time out I live in Columbus, Indiana and will probably fly if I can't find someone going I could ride with my car wouldn't make the trip. Anyway thanks for advice and such in advance.
Love,
Happy

OMFG, so you've been to all those burns and you're asking what you need to take to Burning Man?
Read the survival guide. Google "burning man packing list."
Read through this forum, thoroughly, and be amazed at all the questions you can answer without even asking them....
How the hell do we know what you can "expect to spend?" We don't know what you need. Want.
Expect to spend a lot, and then add onto that.
See you in Mysteria.

I've read the survival guides I don't have a whole lot of time to read all the posts and such on here I just wanted incite from people that have gone to help a little. I know pretty much what I need to take, sorry for asking stupid questions. As far as the money I just needed an avg of what I might need to spend cause I've heard from 500 dollars to 2000 so I was hoping to get a better average from people who have gone.

$500 to $2000 is about as close an average estimate as anyone else can give you, but it can go a lot higher depending on what you bring.
It pretty much boils down to "how comfortable do you want to be" and "what cool shit do you want to make and bring", with a little influence from "what gear do you already have".
Roughly $1000 is probably the realistic bottom for a ticket, transportation, and supplies.
Some years, $500 was my liquor supply tab.

I went to one decompression before I went to the burn for real. I don't much care for the regionals. Once a year is more than enough for me--especially considering all the time it takes to prepare for the event.

You have roughly 470 days...that should be enough time. And money? Save...lots...it always costs at least 1.5 to double what you expect, and if it doesn't, then you can splurge on the fancy room on the trip homeHappychris wrote:I don't have a whole lot of time to read all the posts and such on here

The majority of us simply cannot afford Burning Man.
Regional: 2-5 hours on the road (for me, lots of people have much longer drives), maybe $100 or so in provisions (again, for me).
Burning Man: Two weeks away from work (money lost), $1000+ on provisions and travel
