If you don't have your home network secured, Google is the last thing you need to be worrying about. People are just too lazy to learn how to secure their router. They just buy it from Best Buy plug it in and go for it. Home network security is important on a lot of levels that people aren't aware of. This article about Google just shows how important it can be.
