Hmmm now that you point it out C.f.M.... I think I'll go back to the dance/let dance motto. As long as they don't slam into me no matter how good/bad/hippy/raver they do it.C.f.M. wrote:they really fucking know how to dance
No, they don't.
Hippies get really high and noodle dance around to repetitive jam bands.
Ravers get really high and shuffle back and forth, with the occasional fist pumping, to repetitive electronic music.
Why do Burners </3 Ravers & etc?

You don't have to be skinny, naked and under 30 to be a Hottie!
I have seen this at regional burns also.DoctorIknow wrote: Get ready to see a music camp or two pumping out 120decibel "whatever" style at 2am with NO ONE (sometimes not even a DJ) in attendance.
One reason right there to "hate" or diminish ravers....
Can you rave fans explain this shit?
There were two DJs who set up a giant tent and very loud sound system at a regional burn.
Their lame ass techno was so bad that that NOBODY, not even stoned out ravers ever came to their tent.
Heard them talking. Their solution to this problem? They are coming back
this year with a BIGGER sound system. WTF?
It's not because I'm old. Your music actually does suck.

Our regional has good DJs, if you like that sort if thing. However, their system is so loud, it drowns out everything else in the entire area. Including conversation in your own camp! They don't see this as selfish or annoying, they see those of us who don't care for it as, I dunno, uncool? I am not excited for this year.

you know what the real solution is? They need to build, and stock a bar.

Earplugs, baby. I just accept all the noise as part of the burn. I was just joking this weekend how @ my first burn I thought I was going to PUNCH somebody. The non-stop FUCKING TECHNO was driving me bonkers.AntiM wrote:Our regional has good DJs, if you like that sort if thing. Then I got home, and I honestly, one night, thought about playing all my stereos at once, because I kinda missed it.
Now, I haven't experienced it so loud we couldn't talk at camp - and my regionals have "quiet areas."
I'm curious, Gizmo, which camps you're referring to

Some dill holes set up their system out by the 4:30 burbs last year & played their 'crap" REAL loud ALL night. NO one was there. it wasn't even the volume that bothered me.. the music was "off beat" almost like it was intentional. I would start to doze off to a beat.. then it would "skip" & wake me up. un-natural stuff Im sayin'. UN-natural!
We formed an angry mob the next morning & they moved out toward 2:00.

I think the angry crowd approach is reasonable.............
It's always interesting, how, folks will play music so loud, and not in sound camps or dance, etc..........and, you know, they know, it's bugging others.........and, get a kick out of it. But, get all defensive if you complain.
"hey man, it's my burn, and, I'll do what I want, I'm not bugging you"
well, yeah, you are..........

Earplugs are for sleeping. I do earplugs at Burning Man because that is what it is, even in Hushville. I'm talking normal conversation in my own camp at a relatively small event.

So I was hanging out with this hippy chick who was totally tripping on mushrooms and we were really feeling each others vibes and energy, so we started having sex and the next thing i know she's freaking out and saying i was raping her.

and now for some more eye candy raver.

Once I noticed I was on fire, I decided to relax and enjoy the fall™
Perhaps the previously referenced camp where nobody showed up, while the dance camps next to them were full of people. In Valhalla on the right.C.f.M. wrote: I'm curious, Gizmo, which camps you're referring toDJ40oz was complaining at w/p about some bad DJ'ing last year in Mysteria...
I often hear people, who are much younger than myself, and even self-professed EDM fans complaining about bad music selection by various DJs. While not an EDM fan myself, I have at times experienced DJs who held my interest and kept me entertained. My take on the situation is that 90% of the DJs out there have absolutely no talent for it. They are self-absorbed and musically retarded. Don't know how to work a crowd or entertain people who are not absolutely blotto on drugs. And worst of all: they have no idea that they suck. If they did, they might improve some day.
My take on 40oz is that when he took requests, the music was good. When he picked it out, not so good.
At the next regional, I will be bringing the biggest sound system I can afford, and some music by Slim Whitman. Gonna find out who's a Martian.

I like all the noise at Burning Man. It doesn't matter how late or how loud. I sleep like a baby, probably because I spend 16 hours/day on my feet running around (Not on drugs or drinking, mind you!). When I finally find my bed I'm out for the call. It also helps if you bring a real mattress. I found that out last summer. Ooh joy! (PS, Earplugs are a must too)
But when it's a loud auto-DJing dance floor with no one dancing I do get a little peeved. It's in bad form to disconnect their sound system shouting "It's for the good of the children!!"?

Hey I remember that! They went on for a couple of nights, then they were gone...They were setup in the back of a u-haul...That camp was sooo loud, and sounded terrible! I agree, it wouldn't have been to bad, if it wasn't distorted, and just sounded bad. I was at 4:30 between H and I, and it was shaking the dust off my tent.Boijoy wrote:Some dill holes set up their system out by the 4:30 burbs last year & played their 'crap" REAL loud ALL night. Every year I try to find the worst sound system out there and give them a prize. I enlisted a friend to bike around with me to listen to big sound camps, and he believed the sound coming out of the blown out speakers at one camp was the way the sound was engineered, and most of what was popular now had that same sound.Bounce530 wrote:That camp was sooo loud, and sounded terrible! He was serious. And for sure they were blown speakers. I could only think he'd danced far too many hours directly in front of an 8 foot high and 5 foot wide speaker system blasting out 120decibels, hour after hour after hour... trust me, that entire rave crew are going to have noticeable hearing loss starting around 45 years old, and tinniutus will come right along with it.
Gizmo: I know who you're talking about! I mean, really, with PEX and PLF right there, making some seriously awesome music...give up. You're just embarrassing yourself. Not to mention your crappy porn graphics.
I'm a light sleeper...it's a pain in the ass. But helpful with the Ranger radio goes off.
I rolled up to Kiki's tepee and informed 40 he was the worst DJ I'd ever heard.
CampCAMP DJ Gizmo FTW!
