Why do Burners </3 Ravers & etc?
I suggest a bigger sound system than they have, and some Barry ManilowAntiM wrote:Our regional has good DJs, if you like that sort if thing. However, their system is so loud, it drowns out everything else in the entire area. Including conversation in your own camp! They don't see this as selfish or annoying, they see those of us who don't care for it as, I dunno, uncool? I am not excited for this year.
CDs. That's how I deal with it. Put "Mandy" on repeat play for a few hours.

It's not because I'm old. Your music actually does suck.

Damn, he's physically gifted.
He know's where the balance point is and plays with it. My current push chair is mal-adjusted. The anti-tip bars are before my balance point, and I'm a wimpy, I don'twanna fall type.
Grrr.

It would be nice if indestructible, open-source, cheap wheel chairs could be out there too. A lot less likely to fall over too!theCryptofishist wrote:Damn, he's physically gifted.

There's a guy around here, maybe he's an ngo, who goes to poor countries and helps them develop wheelchairs built out of locally available materials.
Wheelchair prices are fucked up because of the insurance company. I swear, I called the place I bought the power chair from because my front wheel needed bearings and they told me to call my doctor and get a prescription.
I had a friend do it. I don't know how we change this, but I think it's a good idea.

Most of the health care system is designed for... healthy people.theCryptofishist wrote:There's a guy around here, maybe he's an ngo, who goes to poor countries and helps them develop wheelchairs built out of locally available materials.

And most of the technology that does exist for people who aren't healthy is only designed to work in western countries...
And it's for people who are made of money.
I see a lot of things that need changing. I like that open source wheel chair idea. It's amazing how minor changes to medical technology or access can have a huge impact on a lot of people.
Now it just needs to have fire shoot out the back of it and a little sound system on the sides. I liked the karaoke wheel chairing at the end.
Where are you located anyway?

Well, if a=b and c=d and a=/=c then does b=/=d?gyre wrote:What, if anything, does </3 mean?
Sound systems are very delicate.
A million ways to kill them if you want.
And why should a regional be so loud that I never want to go back?
Personally, I'm covered under the republican health care system.
That means I get an alcohol swab before lethal injection.
Do you follow my drift?
Is this thread drift?
Do you follow my thread?
Do you want to follow me for a beer? Mmmm.. Beer...
Beer=/=good study material.
if Cricket <3 Beer and Cricket <3 Studying then why does Beer </3 Studying?

If you multiply 1 person having sex with 3 then you may or may not have <3gyre wrote:What am I supposed to do with the three?
(This depends on which part of San Francisco you live in)
Traditionally we seem to think that 1 person having sex X 2 = <3 but that's just bad math because <2 is more like a uniboob.
(PS, I'm never going to answer your question directly)

So then this all begs the question...what IS the most common music at Burning Man?
What is the most acceptable music?
What is music!??
The only event I've been to that is remotely similar is Lucent L'amour in LA, and they seemed to be playing some dubstep/triphop type of music with some more eclectic music from the yard dogs and stuff. I also caught the March 4th marching band at the Edison and they were so much fun! I hope all the music on the playa has that similar spirit of "Yer, you'll never hear us on Kiis FM and we don't care!" Who knew tambourines could be so awesome?

I sleep through it.
But lots of people don't. If you don't sleep through it then I can promise it won't be a problem.. and that you should do what I say and:
STFU and DANCE!
I was channeling someone just then.. It's okay, I'm better now.

the LOUDEST and most prevalent is various genres of DJ electronica, mostly at the big dance camps... it all becomes one big thumpa, oontz that underscores the week;
the least acceptable, IMHO, is anything on a bad system, anything played over and over and over and over and over, or 3AM full-volume empty camp in a residential area - sometimes it's all 3 in one spot!
the BEST is anything live... hard to find, but always worth the effort...
It's all 'acceptable', there aren't any 'music police' - just be respectful of the neighbors!!

3 is the best prime number, although in this thread, i'm guessing its more of a "holy trinity" thing.
Galas is great!, although Leona Andersen is my favorite.
"as to what is music", it's always subjective.
we play "little joe pesci" and 80's era butthole surfers with glee, but
there have been many a sound system blaring radio hits a plenty, and a precursory "all live music is great" doesn't make it so.
I've been witness to many a sh!t live band in BRC, and to this day the best live band experience i had was seeing the 80's glam metal cover band "Hott Lixx" - to which i wore denim, and in walking brc was met with plenty of disparaging dreadhead remarks along the lines of:"pfff-nice acid wash narc"
bar bands, hack mcs, overly-funded club camps that rotate the same djs and tracks.......not for me, so we'll lure ravekids in with the interactive screen, then scare them away with Coil and start showing "Zardoz".
like i said, "subjective", so find what suits you.
