Trying to offer a little help, but no response?

Post by Bounce530 » Tue May 25, 2010 12:00 pm

Has anybody heard anything back from the BRC census group after they asked for help in JRS a while back?? I emailed them a couple times offering help but never heard back...
I also offered 8 cell phones to Bw/oB and never heard back from them either.

I'm sorry that Burners without Borders hasn't responded. A contributor to this board is one of the members, and I like her and want to think the best of her. At a guess, as they don't have a serious structure, it's an aspect of their ad hoc nature.

I offered a cargo van (FREE) to a burner group in response to their request for non-profit work, and it took over 4 months for them to get back to me to ask if it was still available. When you deal with some of these groups, you have to be very aggressive if you want to volunteer or donate things to them. You may need to call or write several hundred times to get them to take your free stuff or at very least, respond to you.

Stay with it and you will hear from them by the end of the year!

I suspect one of the biggest problems is that these are loosely knit groups of volunteers running things and they’ve got the same work-for-a-living issues as the rest of us. As for BWB, there’s one person who actually runs it full time as a director and she’s maxed out a lot. To tell you how loosely knit the group is, I didn’t even know there was a cell phone project and we've done several fundraisers and seed collections for BWB this year. Karine and I both work with BWB pretty regularly and I linked this thread to her as well. Maybe we can raise someone attention for you.

Thanks for the note & the "heads up" about the phones letter, Bounce530. If your message got buried, *big* apologies!
