skateboarding on the playa

looking at using a skateboard or something like that on the Playa don't know if it can be done or not and may be a electric motor on it, know that may need bigger wheels but just trying see if it may work

The playa is soft, your wheels will sink into the surface but if you can find some bigger wheels it might work. Bikes are the best transportation but a skateboard will not take up too much cargo space. If it works, cool, if it doesn't, throw it back in the car and go on with your burn.

You'd want to try a mountain board not a skateboard. Think of it as an off road skateboard. I have been dying to try one on the playa in conjuntion with a kite.

I saw some wind surfers last year. Assume they had some kind of board but it was pretty windy, read: practically whiteout, and didn't see it. You would have to have some all terrain wheels. And don't forget the dust traps. They will throw you off your bike, I can only imagine what it would do if you were being towed by a kite. I really want to see you do it, though.

I think there are some sort of restrictions on wind powered rides......location or some sort. you might want to check that.

Always happy to see powered skateboards zooming around, wind or engine........

There are rules on skateboards, kites, what you can operate inside or outside BRC etc.

OK. Those little scoots with motors (motorized skateboards with handles) are good 'cause they don't have seats. I dont know about BLM law. 51 weeks a year you can scoot around the playa in any damn thing you want. I think it's BM rule.

yeah, nothin' like those motorized scooters zipping by at 20 mph, weaving in and out of traffic........makes for hours of entertainment.......They do look fun, and, if the person riding, has good skills, quite the spectacle...
and, if their skills are not so good........wellllllll, still entertaining..........

we have a half pipe set up on the 3:00 side, usually placed at 2:15 and G. close to med station......

I am looking at what's called a Mountain board with 8" tires may work but not 100% if the tires may still dig in to the playa.

A bit similar but kind of off-topic...

Would normal scooters work (ie. Razor scooters)? Bike's take up so much space in the car so i'd rather just bring a scooter if that's not too silly or inconvenient on the playa floor. I figure the wheels are a bit larger than skateboard wheels
