I've read through all of this and have been to several regional burns... and I'm here to tell ya that the raver vs burner battle rages on even here in Texas. Granted un-edjumcated ravers cause massive issues with the community... however, everyone coming in needed to be edjumcated at one time or another.
I’m a radically self reliant responsible hippy eco (try to be as much as possible) adult (non pacifier) raver from the 80s… Can’t we all just get along? LOL
Honestly, I don’t think it has anything to do with Rave vs Burner vs Hippy or any other group – it has to do with being considerate of your surrounding or Responsible for your area’s needless imposition on others… *there’s that extra R, Popobumm*
At our regionals I’ve seen just as much inconsiderate behavior from the “burnerâ€

I belong to a camp…..it’s the same camp that Ibdave belongs (runs) to. I’m not always alone. I’m one of those people that interacting with people just wears me out. I can be in front of a large group of people and am fine, in fact I like it. You put me in a one to one conversation with someone I don’t know and it takes all my energy. When I reach the point of being “doneâ€
I just hate the Kandi wearing, bug-eyed, teeth-grinding kids all hopped up on Methy pills massaging each other and spouting their drug-addled phony hollow proclamations of love while truly believing that this is the only way to "get into the music."
Big fan of the music myself, but nothing is more annoying than dealing with E-tarded Kandi Kids.

seriously, you can tell the difference? I try, I try, but this seems to be my main complaint. I like a melody, I like a story. I like the visual experience of somebody's art to stand on it's own without a dance music vehicle parked right next to it. I like the temple to be a place for contemplation, and not a hey let's check it out party bus destination. oh well. I deal with it.gaminwench wrote: the least acceptable, IMHO, anything played over and over and over and over and over

As an ex-raver (91-2001), and a still sometimes dj(91-now) I have my own opinions about ravers. In the early rave scene 91-95 raves were a lot different then they are now. much like our beloved burningman. Raves were places where people of all shapes and colors could come together and dance the night away. Granted a lot of people were on drugs, but drugs were not the main focus, music and comradery (sp?) were why we went out each weekend. The music had vocals, and there was meaning and feeling behind it. Unfortunately now the rave scene has become about drugs first with the music being a backdrop. Kids (14-20) go and eat 5 pills of E and roll around with each other sniffing vicks vapo rub and sucking on binkies. I love house music, for those of you who don't know the difference and its all oontz oontz, house music is the kind with words and melodies and it actually makes you think, if just a little bit. I am frustrated with the dub-step, and whomp, and just general lack of good melodies in favor of farty bass noises. I consider the rave scene of my early 20's to be gone. Now all of us from that scene throw our own little parties and have fun in our own way. a lot of us are burners now. At burningman I have the luxury of going to pink mammouth and dancing to house music during the day and thank god for that. SOOOOOO much fun. I also have the luxury of going and seeing amazing art SOOOOOO much fun. I also have the luxury of watching (not participating in) people going down the slide of death and fucking themselves up SOOOOOOOOO much fun. i also have the luxury of seeing how moopy the big dance areas are after friday night and bringing out a bottle of whiskey and meeting the awesome members of that camp creating new friends over a drinkie and cleaning up the ravers mess again SOOOOOOOO much fun, but would be better if they hadn't mooped it to begin with, cause then I could have just hung out with the camp peoples chillin and watching the city come to life. I do appreciate the large sound camps like root and opulent. I have a great time dancing there, but I tend to only stay for an hour and then move on to my next adventure. My favorite is to watch all the fire spinners at the fire stage. I can and have sat there for hours. SOOOOO much fun. I guess my point is that ravers are present at burningman and we have to deal with them no matter what. I personally like to fuck with them and tease them, but my hope is, and I know this happens, that they take away with them part of what burningman is all about to me and apply that to their default lives in some way. Maybe when they come back next year they bring more then a gallon of water, and actually put their ciggie buts in a container. Ravers are ok, I am just not one of them anymore.
