Scatter the ashes of my old life on the dusty Playa floor...

Post by Cala Vera » Thu May 27, 2010 3:57 pm

Hey all,

I'm Cala Vera, unofficially based out of Columbia, Missouri at this point in my life.

I've never been to Burning Man before. I found the burner community in April 2009 when I stumbled across InterFuse, a regional burn in this area. Since then I have been to four burns, volunteered at all but my first...

I've taught myself to spin fire and started a fire troupe (Burn Circus). The size of my family has grown exponentially due to all of the awesome people that I have met at these events.

I came home to the Burner Community and now its time to come home in a larger sense, to BRC.

I've changed my life so much in the last few years it barely resembles what it used to be. I'm leaving behind my 11 year relationship, leaving behind all of the preconceived notions that I had about my life and what I had to settle for. And I'm freeing myself to be authentic, real, present, awake and aware to what I am manifesting in my life right now.

AND I'm effectively utilizing the knowledge that I have had for so long... that I am meant to give much to this world... and that I already have these incredible reserves of energy, light and love to draw from, and that it is all available to all of us all the time.

At 40, I'm making radical shifts in who I am and what I am here to do, and so my intention is to scatter the ashes of my old identity/hang-ups/doubts/fears/and obligations, leaving those self created shackles on the dusty desert floor and exploring the world with fresh eyes and an open heart.

The ashes of my old identity will be stomped and scattered by my burner family under the heels of forty thousand pair of crazy ass shoes, liberating me from social and self imposed bondage, and revealing the magnificence that has been within me my entire life, but that so many layers of shadow have kept hidden!

So, I'm coming to the desert. I know that it will be unlike anything I've ever experienced. I'm bursting with excitement as the energy of this upcoming life changing event rushes through me and I accept that I deserve to be a part of something so creative, so poignant to the times and so awe inspiring.

I WILL manifest a ticket to Burning Man. I WILL figure out a ride situation and I WILL find a sweet spot to rest my head... Somehow I know that all of these things are happening right now because I am really intent on having this experience with all of you.

So, I humbly ask you to fully expect me to be there, blossoming, dancing, playing, laughing, crying, shining and living as me...

much love,
Cala Vera

Welcome!

I'm a newbie too! I am also manifesting a ticket!

I always tell fellow newbs to read the survival guide & first timer's guide on the burning man site, read everything you can here & go to current.com to see a lot of wonderful burning man videos. All of that answered a lot of my questions and inspired me more!

Hope to meet you on the playa!

Missouruh or Missouree?

Post by Cala Vera » Thu May 27, 2010 9:46 pm

Well... I have met several people who say Missouruh... but they were all born in the same town where they currently reside, in many cases ;) and they are almost all over 65.

I'm not originally from around these parts... I'm a Texan by birth.

I just pronounce Missouri with the 'ee' sound not the 'uh' sound. And I don't 'warsh' my clothes... I 'wash' my clothes.

However one pronounces Missouri, it's really quite beautiful here. I love the river, the cliffs, the caves, the hills and trees and all animals that I see hanging out.

Thanks for the nice Welcome! I'm glad to be here! Lots of excellent information on these boards!

that is wonderful man. I am also hoping for a great deal of cleansing on the playa. I plan to burn some very personal artifacts in the temple... and really i want this event to facilitate the burning away of my past burdens and aid the further sculpting of my soul.

I recalll a woman a few years back I met a woman who wore her wedding dress for the week and had everyone write notes and messages on it. The dress was covered with messages by the end of the week. She then had her entire life of old baggage burn on Sunday night with the Temple burn. I never saw this lady afterwards, but I'll bet she is a whole new person now.

Good luck Cala Vera and I hope you like the new person that you see in the rearview mirror a you leave BRC! :D

Bring some ashes of your old life by and I will make a Stone of them.
Would be a nice change of pace, making a Stone from the ashes of the living.
