Bis ans Ende der Welt

Post by gyre » Tue Jun 01, 2010 12:19 am

Claire spent her thirtieth birthday
in space.

It's about a camera that takes pictures that blind people can see.

Turns out it can record dreams too.

But, of course, it isn't about that at all, is it?

It is about how people react to this.

We have an obligation to make space for everyone, we have no obligation to make that space pleasant.

As much as I like Hedwig, which is a lot, I was even more moved by John Cameron Mitchell's "Shortbus". But that's just my feeling, they are both great films.

Here's the end of Shortbus:

Thanks! I didn't know Mitchell did anything else after Hedwig (aside from some stellar Hedwig concerts in South Korea) so I appreciate the link/lead. :)

Here you are, Misa, the movie that made me fall in love with Praha, with the Astrological Clock, and it turns out, probably Jan Svankmejer as well. I watch it and get homesick for a place I was in for three days.

The voice of Thomas Edison:

Go here:

On the left side is a "Multimedia" panel that says "Hear the audio" and you can hear Thomas Edison give a speech a couple of years before he died.

"Elektronik Supersonik" was claimed to have been Molvania's entry into the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest. However, Vladcik was arrested at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport and immediately deported for "recreational drug" usage. Upon his return, Vladcik apologised to everyone in Molvania for letting them down, especially his family, his friends and his dealer.
