First BM in 07. Wonderful, strange experience...have been pining to come back home since. First there was something (couldn't have been a good enough reason, really, if I don't even remember what it was, right?), the next year a gig as the cook on a three mast schooner got in the way and then the birth of our third kid. But, finally, things are looking good for BM2010!
...and this time, with enhanced creature comforts. Will be driving the in-laws RV down from Portland, OR. The single tent thing was fine but I'm looking forward to being able to close the door tight on the dust storms...
I'm also bringing virgin burner Eric. He's the one with more relevant know-how: a Masters degree in divinity studies which, in my mind, should make him perfect for the role of late night/early morning bartender in some camp. Me, being still jet-lagged from the flight from Frankfurt, will be looking for a job as breakfast chef or, better yet and a repeat from '07, morning cocktail mixer. Bloody Marys, anyone?
Now that we finally know that we can come, Eric and I will be looking for a camp to join. Prefer low-key, friendly and drama-free types - not the "lets see who can go without sleep the longest". Happy to put in hours and we both understand that some things just need doing and will pitch in when and where needed most. Communal food would be great, all else a bonus. Any ideas or recommendations, anyone?

Vital Statistics
It seems like I missed giving some basic info:
- both early 40s but could easily be mistaken for late, late 30s
- both hetero and married but not bringing spouses or offspring
- both meat eaters but will also eat greens
- no usable musical skills, little rhythm but both will sing and dance
- "basic good-for-something, clean hippies", basically, not dropping out but not killing ourselves in the corporate grind either
Also, I hadn't mentioned yet that I don't get seasick. That's what got me that sweet gig as 5th officer and cook on those sailing trips but I honestly can't see yet how that would be as helpful here...

When I lived 2000 miles from the playa it was always a daunting trip. Now I live 200 miles away. It's still hard. I struggle to fit me, partner, likker, shower, solar... I struggle to fit all in an ancient 21 foot motorhome. It amazes me, and I truly admire those that can come from so far to visit Black Rock City. Welcome back home.

Sailing the Playa
Hey, I know that boat...that's the pirates who were camped on the opposite corner from us in 2007. Looking forward to seeing that again - very cool mutant vehicle!

Couldn't have been the Contessa in 2007, it burned in 2006. It was beached back in 2004. There are other pirates, other ships....ibdave wrote:The Contessa is no longer around...
