N Korea..
Is anyone else getting a little worried about this?
North Korea to Suspend Naval Hot Line With South
I'm not usually one to think all doom and gloom but this is ridiculous.

I am really worried about the silence around...nobody is speaking about it (at least here not)...is it same in States?
It is like the silence before the storm...US goes with Soul, Russia will provide some experts (but we all know what can experts do on site...) and China is meditating what side to pick...hmmm

Just to make sure it is understood,,,, there was never an end to the Korean conflict. A cease fire was agreed upon and the U.S. has had 10's of thousands of military stationed there ever since. Sooooo we never actually left. Hopefully China will step in and spank the North side of the DMV for their provocative behavior before it gets worse.MisaBlue wrote:I am really worried about the silence around...nobody is speaking about it (at least here not)...is it same in States?

Likewise, Okinawa and Osan Korea here. The mil. is gonna be hush hush here. I'd like to think that with 2 wars already going on, that they wouldn't want to get involved in a third, and NK hasn't anything to loose, but face, and that is the wild card. Kim Jung is not playing with a full deck. This conflict has the potential of going full scale, larger then the mideast because of the ancillary players, US, Russia and China, who is itching for they're own seat on the super power stage.AntiM wrote:Having been in the military, in Japan and working in some sensitive areas, from experience I think there's a lot more going on than we're hearing. A waiting game for now, but waiting for what? Or who?
Me personally, I stocking beans and bullet's, jik.
Excuse me Ma'am, your going to feel a small prick.

IMO - either Kim Jong Il is losing his grip, and an internal power struggle (ala Dr. Strangelove) happened, or they are grooming one of his Son's and using this as his "breaking in" to gain the confidence of the military, since they have basically been Playboys up to now. Or He has gone completely nuts and is "pushing buttons" randomly (this is the scary scenario).

Nah, not really. If you hang in the room long enough with the chiuahua baring its teeth enough times you kinda get tired of it.Is anyone else getting a little worried about this?
As with most things in life if you do it enough times someone, somewhere is eventually going to get tired of the annoyance. Everyone knows the perceived threat is all snarl and no bite - in spite of their alleged nuke program.
There comes a point - and I think we're close - where you just have to turn around and kick the little dog's teeth in so fucking hard and quick that it shits them out its tiny little ass by the next morning.

...but will the West do anything, with much of our debt held by China? Our economy is already straining under our collective Greed, and we are fighting 2 wars and heavily invested in preventing several others. New Government in UK, EU looking at currency implosion....the West is not really in a position to do much kicking (what if Walmart shut down?). And then there is China on their border, who uses N. Korea as a buffer State....

Discussed this with a Chinese native I work with today. He made the observation that N. Korea is very different from China culturally and linguistically. He said that China is at least modernizing in the cities. Rural China is still much like N. Korea i.e. being stuck in the 19th century.
According to him, China would very much like to have the entire Korean Peninsula along with Taiwan within their own borders. The only leverage China actually has with N. Korea is the dependence N.K. has on imports from China.
He also indicated that Kim Jong Il is a nut case with no regard for his "subjects" and has grand illusions of world domination.
